Location : Pesanggrahan, Jakarta Barat, Indonesia. Specializing in Central Javanese cuisine from Pati city, “Nasi Gandul Bu Endang” is just a simple humble eatery serving unpretentious dishes like Nasi Gudeg, Tahu Gimbal, Nasi Gandul, Nasi Rawon, Mangut, Bakmi Jawa, Babat Gongso, Garang Asem, and so on.
The deep fried tempe looks sooo simple yet it tastes sooo yummy with just the right amount of seasoning, on point!
On the table, there are a few selection of side dishes such as Perkedel, Tempe Bacem, Bakwan, Telur Asin (Salted Egg) to complement the food. The tempe bacem is seriously a legit one, fully marinated and extremely flavorful.
Nasi Gandul consists of rice drenched in meat stew in thick brown gravy, served over banana leaf.
The beef was very tender with the brown gravy fully absorbed into it, then the gravy was savory and sweet in a subtle way. It was a very comfortable and yummy dish.
To make it even better, Salted Egg and Perkedel (potato cake) are simply great addition to the already yummy Nasi Gandul.
You may try Nasi Ayam Semarang The mixed rice consists of festive toppings, braised chayote, shredded chicken cooked in coconutmilk-based seasoning, ‘pindang’ egg, chili sauce and braised tofu topped with fried shallots. It was a simple and humble dish with full of flavors but most of the toppings were a tad too sweet for my liking though.
Overall, Nasi Gandul Bu Endang serves just simple dishes that appeal to everyone especially the ones with sweet palates, the taste is certainly authentic and legit. If you love Central Javanese cuisines, the dishes here are certainly going to bring back the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Nasi Gandul Bu Endang, a cozy and slightly rustic eatery located by the roadside. Specializing in authentic Central Javanese cuisine, this place offers a delightful culinary experience. One of my all-time favorites here is the tahu gimbal—a dish that never fails to satisfy.
Upon arriving at my table, I noticed the pre-set menu consisting of perkedel and baceman. These tasty appetizers can be savored while waiting for the main course to arrive or even mixed into the main dish, adding a unique twist to the overall dining experience.
It's worth noting that the prices at Nasi Gandul Bu Endang are relatively high for a simple restaurant. However, the quality and flavors of the food make up for the higher cost. Every bite of the meticulously prepared dishes reflects the dedication and expertise in capturing the essence of Javanese cuisine.
The ambience of the place exudes a certain charm with its dim lighting and vintage decor, providing a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. The staff members are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
In conclusion, Nasi Gandul Bu Endang is a hidden gem for those seeking an authentic taste of Central Javanese cuisine. While the prices may be on the higher side for a modest establishment, the delectable food, cozy setting, and warm service make it a worthwhile experience. Read moreNasi Gandul is a true gem of Javanese cuisine, and I had the pleasure of trying it during my visit to Java. The dish consists of perfectly cooked rice, soaked in a thick, creamy coconut sauce that’s infused with a harmonious blend of herbs and spices. The sauce is the heart of Nasi Gandul, and it’s what sets it apart from other rice dishes. Other than that, I ordered a set of Nasi Ayam. This flavorful meal consists of fragrant, seasoned rice served with succulent, tender poached yellow seasoned chicken. It’s accompanied by a medley of fresh vegetables (labu) and a flavorful sauce, such as spicy sambal or a savory soy-based condiment. Though all the meals are delicious, they are pretty small in size. Which is why another plate of Nasi Goreng Babat (famous around Semarang) and a bowl of hot Asam Asam Daging soup are on the table. This eatery offers dishes bursting with flavor and an authentic taste of Java. Definitely a...
