The best nasi padang.. according to me! Lol.

The place: Small parking space and it gets pretty crowded especially on weekends. Family restaurant, so you can bring all your brothers and cousins here lol. Busy place with many attentive waiters. There is a bigger branch about 1km away from this (with better parking space), but I think this one is the first branch.

The food (my favorite): When you come to a Padang restaurant, they'll serve so many dishes on your table. Don't get scared! Lol. You don't have to pay for everything, only those you eat (or taste). I always get so out control and ended up eating so much I couldn't breath lol. My go to menu: ayam pop (thigh only), it is SO good, a friend of mine said that they made it with lard lol. It is not tho. The flavorful taste from the coconut milk seeped perfectly into the chicken meat. I love how it gets a lil bit oily. I can inhale 2 pieces at once and still wanting more. dendeng batokok, tender thin sliced beef with green chili spices. It tastes better when it gets a lil bit oily. Do not get scared with the chili, it is not spicy. Geez, so much oil lol! paru goreng, yup fried lungs! It was very crispy, they served it inside a plastic container (like how kerupuk is served). kerupuk jangek kuah, cow skin cracklings served with kuah gulai (some kind of gravy). Perfection! and of course their sambal ijo to accompany those dishes with rice in harmony lol

I always ended up spending too much eating here. It's more expensive compare to other nasi padang restaurant, but for me it's always worth it :).

TL;DR Place 3/5 Food 4/5 take away, Gojek, or dine there.. will def come again! Price...

My friend who used to date someone from Jakarta told me about this place and specifically told me to get the ayam pop. I’ve come here a few times every time I go to Jakarta (pre-pandemic).

The ayam pop here is different from what I’ve had in KL and other places, here the chicken is poached in coconut milk instead of fried. I remember my college classmate from Jakarta telling me he really missed ayam pop and his mouthwatering description matched Pagi Sore’s (no wonder he couldn’t find ayam pop that’s not fried in KL). The combo with the accompanying cili makes it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t know why there is no Pagi Sore in KL. I’ve cried many times in absolute agony at the thought of this dish. Why did you open in Singapore where the food was mediocre and the restaurant was empty, when you could open in KL and I could live right next to you and eat ayam pop everyday? Now that the flights are back and the tickets are twice the price as before, I don’t know when I will be going to JKT next and it makes me so sad.

Also, once I went there, I took a plate of greens which I thought were my favourite pucuk ubi rebus (boiled sweet potato leaves), but when I started chewing, I realised I had made a grave mistake. It as extremely bitter, and turned out it was daun betik (papaya leaves). As I didn’t want it to go to waste, I finished half the plate. Then I went back to KL and it was dengue season. My husband eventually caught dengue but I was safe, which I attribute to consuming daun betik (traditionally it’s used to treat dengue). Unfortunately for him, all the betik trees in our area were bald because everyone was grabbing the...

One of the few restaurants serving Padang cuisine that I love in Jakarta. It is also the restaurant that I go most often to enjoy Padang food.

For those of you who have no idea what Padang cuisine is, you may want to Google it.

Do not be alarmed when you see a server bringing you massive amounts of different kinds of dishes on his arms (without trays). That is just the way they do it (called “Hidang”), so that you will be able to see what you would like to eat. Much like a fast food restaurant with a “live” menu. Not to worry as well as they would only charge you on the dishes you take.

Of course you can also choose to have a selection of dishes that you specifically like to have for takeaways. I do this sometimes by walking right into their pantry.

Most of the dishes are cooked in their traditionally famous “santan” or coconut milk so those watching cholesterol levels beware! Also their dishes are somewhat spicy. I love the “tunjang” (beef knuckle), beef “rendang,” “sambal ijo” (green chilies), “daun ubi/singkong tumbuk” (vegetable dish made of cassava leaves), “rendang paru” (deep fried beef lungs), and “ayam pop” (special fried chicken - ask for special sauce). The restaurant also serve beef innards so ask before you taste :)

The restaurant can be really crowded during lunch and dinner rush or on weekends so it is recommended to reserve a table when arriving in large group.

I highly recommend this restaurant for those who like to try Indonesian local...

In Indonesian nasi padang scene, only two main chains are said to be the best. They are Restoran Sederhana and Pagi Sore. I prefer Pagi Sore even though both are equally good. This restaurant is located in Cipete and it is always crowded. Parking is also a chore and you'll have to get the help of the parking attendant to help you get a parking space. The restaurant is quite spacious but it could be better laid out and give more space for diners to move about. Not really an issue but given the current Covid situation, people may not want to be too close to others especially when dining. Food is good. For first timers, don't panic. Food will be laid out in front of you but you only pay for those you eat. For the sake of hygiene just leave those dishes that you don't want alone. You'd is the padang way of serving. The waiter will count only those that you touch/eat. Have fun!

May not be considered the most authentic Padang cuisine, but it has its own charm that keeps customers coming back. 🍛🌶️ [+] While the dishes are tailored to Jakarta's palate, they still retain the rich, aromatic, and spicy characteristics of traditional Padang cuisine. The use of premium, fresh ingredients ensures that each dish, whether it’s rendang, gulai otak, udang tahu balado, or ayam pop, delivers a consistently satisfying experience. [+] Pagi Sore prioritizes customer service and comfort, making it a pleasant dining experience beyond just the food. [+] The spacious parking area and wide range of payment methods, from cash to cashless options, add to the convenience. Pagi Sore strikes a fine balance between modern comforts and the traditional flavors of Padang cuisine, offering a consistently enjoyable dining experience that’s both accessible and satisfying.
