Penang Hawker PIK Jakarta — Restaurant in Jakarta

First and last. No, not because of the food, but the service is just bad. There was discord between the servers and the kitchen staff, seemed like the servers did not communicate the orders correctly to the cooks so my order was not made from the beginning, alas we cancelled it. Did we even get an apology? Nope, nada. Another guest cancelled their order as well because, of course, the same reason we cancelled ours. The servers aren't friendly and they seem to be busy amongst themselves instead, joking around, which, i don't mind if their service is good. The cooks look like they're angry when guests cancel their orders, and scolded the servers.

Taste wise, im pretty ok with it, it's not mind blowing or anything,...

We came for dinner for 4 on friday night. The outside of the restaurant looks pretty decent. But the inside decor was quite poor (looks old and dark). They have private rooms for karaoke, but it wasn't sound proof at all. So the entire meal we had to listen to a fairly loud and offtune singing! The staff were also not familiar with the menu, which was a bit disappointing. We ordered penang fried kwetiau, pork knuckle and brocolli with fish maw. The pork knuckle was good (crunchy and large portion) but served only with generic/bottled sweet chili sauce (no special sauce). The penang kwetiau and brocolli with fish maw was average. Today, my coworkers asked me to go to Penang Hawkers in PIK. We went inside not knowing that the place is closed for the night for a birthday celebration.

BUT, we are extremely lucky as Koh Calvin (the owner) was having his 52nd birthday. Koh Calvin invited us to stay and enjoy the celebration just like we are his old friends.

Happy birthday ya koh Calvin. Semoga panjang umur, sehat terus, bahagia, damai hati & mudah rejeki. You are a real good guy.
