Privy Italian American Steakhouse — Restaurant in Jakarta

Made a booking for their famed Chef's Table private dining on 26 April 2024 (Friday night) and pay Rp1mil as a down payment. They told me that the only available seating is at 6 pm. So on the D day I leave earlier from work with my wife so that we arrived there on time at 6pm, when we arrived they told us that the dinner will only start at 6.30pm, we asked why, they mentioned that it is normal for their guests to arrive at 6pm and then wait for 30 mins before the dinner actually starts. We think it's weird but we decide to wait until 6.30pm, after waiting for 30 mins the dinner is not started yet, nothing was prepared, the chef wasn't even there yet, and then they told us that we are actually wrong to come at 6pm because they only open at 7pm even though they clearly said that it's indeed 6pm in our whatsapp conversation with the admin. I even showed them their own whatsapp message, but no further explanation and no apology, no compensation whatsoever I decided to walk away and ask for a refund. It was only after I left and texted them another complaint about their very bad service that they apologized for the 1st time. Refund will wait another 14 days (let's see if they can follow through with this) Basically, our night out plan is ruined because of this so me and my wife just walked out of the restaurant and decided to go home early I've been to other, arguably lesser restaurant that have miscommunication with their booking. But apology and a form of compensation are always offered But from Privy, there was nothing. Maybe I'm just unlucky that day, but the whole staff that communicates with us during the incident looks like a bunch of amateurs that day. I'm actually a fan of their pizza restaurant, Mozzeria, and I went there almost every month, but after this incident, I don't think I will ever see them in the same light ever again. Will take a while for the bad...

Found the perfect fancy restaurant in Jakarta for a chill girls' night✨

Seriously obsessed with this spot for our catch-up! The vibe is so chic, perfect for good food and even better conversations with my besties. 🇮🇹

We dove into some seriously delicious dishes:

Caesar Salad 🥗: Always a classic, and Privy's is so fresh and flavorful with the perfect dressing, crunchy croutons, and cheese.

Carbonara 🍝: That creamy, dreamy goodness! The sauce was on point, coating every strand of pasta with that rich, savory bacon flavor. A total carb heaven!

Fig Toast 🍞: This was a revelation! Crispy toast piled high with fresh figs and drizzled with honey – sweet, but not too sweet, and absolutely Insta-worthy! 🤩

Dry Aged Beef 🥩: For the main event, thier steak was incredible! Cooked to perfection with a beautifully seared crust and juicy, tender inside. Every bite was pure bliss.

Panacotta 🍮: The perfect sweet ending! Silky smooth panacotta with a touch of raspberry sauce – just the right amount of sweetness, and those little edible flowers were the cutest touch.

If you're in Jakarta and looking for a fancy spot to hang out with your girlfriends, you HAVE to check out Privy! Trust me, you won't be...

“A fancy little restaurant, need a deeper pocket to make this as a go to restaurant”

I gave 3 stars for some points: food: IMO it was overpriced with just an ok taste. Portion is too small for 200k dishes. U need to order at least 280-300k for a proper portion. Taste wise, it’s just okay. Perhaps should just order the steak n skip the others. No idea how does the steak taste.. but ready to pay more for it. The salad caesar.. perhaps they call it a fusion style, but for me it’s nothing but lettuces n cheese.

drink: we had wines. It was a very good taste for a wine house option, but comes with the cost as usual. My critics (as to many fancy restaurants in Jakarta) the volume is always below what it should be with that price. Which u won’t find it in EU countries.

service: was good. No complaint about it.

ambience: it was nice. Very cozy tho small. But it’s good for a more private restaurant. Good choice of songs.

location: it’s inside the Dharmawangsa square. Didn’t expect it at all, but we gave a try. Luckily the ambience is nice.

price: it’s in the stretch of high side. But with that kinda price, for me I’m expecting more than just a good taste.
