Upscale Chinese restaurant but with casual atmosphere since they don’t have those round tables which is the usual signature of upscale Chinese resto. Instead they have tables of four.
We didn’t order many dishes but all those that we ordered were delicious. We ordered Hot Crispy Chicken (not sure of the name), a unique dish made up of fried diced chicken and chicken skin with mountains of green and red chillies, onions and kue tambang which serves as crackers. There is also a dish of diced prawn sandwiched between fried bread dipped in mayonnaise or chili oil - yummy. The fried bread is crunchy and the diced prawns tasty. We ordered like 2 portions of the Corn Salted Egg, a dish of corn kernels fried with salted egg batter. It gives the flavor of salted egg and the sweetness of the corn. The Steamed Chicken in Chili is also tasty - similar to steamed Hainan Chicken but with spicy sauce. Even the rice is cooked so well - similar to Japanese rice.
Price is on the high side aka pricey but to be fair the portion is meant for sharing for 2-4 persons depending on how hungry you are. We ordered 4 dishes and drinks and paid around 800k including tax. So you need to fork out around 200-300k per person depending on how many dishes you ordered. Friendly staffs and quick service. Menu is in tablet form but the waiter will take your order. We will definitely return to try other dishes especially their...
Read moreFirst time trying this joint and presumed it must be good as it's branches sprung out all over. The food was alright, but a little pricey for gurame fish at a little over Indo Rupiah 340 000. That was the cheapest fish to select. I would not say that the portion is big for this type of fish. The dish was tasty. The rice was cooked just right for me. The service staffs were very attentive. There were just 2 tables (inclusive of ours ). However, I think the boss was visiting the store and the staffs were all on 'high alert' clearing whatever empty plates we have. The Chinese music was replaying over and over again. I think I heard a particular love song for at least 3 times for about 35 minutes we were there. I will not visit the restaurant again. 1...
Read moreIt's an acquired taste that might not be for everyone. The use of mala was significantly less than used in restaurants in China but still quite prominent. You can order not spicy but that would defeat the purpose of trying out this cuisine. You should definitely try it because you might like it. As for me, once was enough.
We ordered the fish soup, mala fried chicken, mala tenderloin beef, and tofu skin noodle-like dish. The bing fen dessert was a welcome relief to balance the oily, sour and spiciness of the main...
