Waroeng Steak & Shake Tebet Timur — Restaurant in Jakarta

This place has been my culinary destination since University to get some affordable kind of European Indonresianish dish.

This is probably the only place where you can find floured and fried steak. Yes, it's kind of unique but I often miss the taste and it's economical.

My favorite is the sirloin double, with rice and additional gravy.

Grilled imported steak is also available here but for me it's a bit pricy and it's not their main menu.

The cordon bleu chicken however, it is very recommended as well. Never had a better one with the same price.

My favorite drink is of course Strawberry milkshake with chocolate float.

With the new theme, this place is cleaner compared to its previous look many years ago. The service is okay, although it can be improved a bit.

It's cheap. So don't expect you'll find a real steak here. Their specialty is crispy steak---deep fried chicken/beef served with mushroom sauce, mixed veggies, and potato wedges. Taste was so-so, beef was pretty tender. But the batter was way too thick and undercooked in some parts. The gravy was quite good but served too little you needed to order more separately.

As for the original steak, the cut was too thin so you can't request any level of cooking because meat would be ended up well-done.

Tebet branch is always full of crowd. They have pretty spacious parking lot and tables. But again with only one cashier opened and huge crowd around, the queue would be long and exhausting, particularly if you came with...

They have new building, industrial looks. Bigger, brighter, cleaner..

Unfortunately, they are not upgrade their service/manning. Bigger place, more table, but they lack of staff, for 1 menu dine in and 1 menu take away, it needs 1 hour before served. I have to asked them several time before it send to my table.

Even when I asked before it served, the cashier (since no waiter to be asked), informed me to go to the kitchen by myself and asked about my order.
