Been eyeing to visit this legendary place for a while but never seemed to find the time and/or the right company. Finally last week we were shown the way there by someone who's been (trust me, despite being on Google Maps the main entrance has no clear signage and you walk straight into the kitchen so easier if you're with someone who knows exactly). Also note that parking is on the streets around Pasar Pagi which can get ridiculously crowded and hard. Tip: go for early lunch before 11.
We walked in thru the kitchen, sat down, looked around and immediately felt at home 😊🤗 the resto is that small and cozy with less than 10 tables and only 2 bigger round ones. The menu is old fashioned also, laminated front & back paper but they do have a book with photos of some menu items. Thankfully the resto is air-conditioned now, whereas I was told few years ago they only had fans.
We got down to ordering and man did we ordered! Their signature noodle with fried wonton, lindung cah fumak, kangkung hot plate, crispy intentines and babat toge asem manis!! 'Always can takeaway leftovers' we said, but 20 minutes later food were completely gone 😁💪🏼 it's that good. Lindung cah fumak stood out as it was still super crispy despite having sauce poured over it. And the crispy intentines were also spot on! Dipping chili sauce was super spicy so be careful.
We had a really good meal at Wong Fu Kie and could not wait to return. But perhaps we'll visit their branch at Pantjoran PIK since access is much easier. Hopefully the food is just as good cause you know how it is, branches' quality are sometimes different to the OG. New loved place, 10 out of 5...
Read moreBeen here after read some review on media about the taste and they called it 'the best Hakka resto in town'. But I prove it wrong, The flavor of food is just common, standard. Almost every old-style Chinese food I have tasted is like this, even better.
The treatment and service are really disappointing. The owner forced us to sit in the corner, despite there is a guest that has sit there before, and we actually prefered another table.
Even from the start, the owner asked our order neither with pleasant tone nor well-mannered. It felt like an interrogation the way he asked our order.
When we asked about some unfamiliar item on menu, the owner answered it rudely, without good hospitality and cordiality, as if we the lowly customers didn't deserve the legendary menu. He also talked to other customers in the similar way he control seating and menu choices. We as guests, didn't come from far place to get some impatient and unrespecting service.
Apparently this restaurant management could not differentiate between good service & hospitality, with dictating customers, being unfriendly, and making customer feel uncomfortable. You can make food, but that is not the only reason for a customer to come back. Stop condescending, and learn to be more helpful, give warm impression. Because that is basic attitude a restaurant should...
Read moreDespite the location, the waiting time, and the dining place, everything was good. Recommeded by a friend, I finally tried this restaurant, and true, it was a pleasureably delicious old chinese food with various signature dishes that other restaurant don't have. The cook would adjust the portion enough for every members, and it has a fair price i can say. 493k for 5 dishes for 4 adults for lunch and everyone was fully loaded.
Located in the middle of a very crowded glodok area, and hard to find a parking lot nearby. We must walk down the alley since no car can enter. I suggest to go with a local friend by grab or taxi. I don't think this is a suitable place for tourist, but for those who are fond of trying, better order via go-jek, and make sure to order 1 to 2 hours ahead the meal time because their kitchen is so small but plenty of orders.
The eatery itself is not big, only 4 or 5 tables, with a very old decoration. Not a good place to bring young kids even though there is an AC inside. The owner recommended some famous dishes and we all love them very much. Would go back here? Yes definetely. Would recommend this to a...
