Vintage Chinese coffee shop located in Jakarta Chinatown (Glodok area). Serving coffee since 1927, this place still maintain the old interior style - old building, old furnishing & decoration - hence we can feel the 1950s ambience. Located in a narrow alley filled with various street stalls serving mainly heritage chinese food & other miscellaneous stuffs i.e. household utilities, and the road would be filled with sellers of Imlek related goods every year when CNY is coming. Access is only possible on foot or using motorbike, for those using cars it would be most convenient to park on Jl. Pancoran then walk here. The main features here are Coffee, Nasi Campur & Noodles. ☕️ I love the Kopi Susu especially because of the richness & non-acidic taste, the bittersweet balance from the black coffee & condensed milk is addictive! You can also order chinese delicacies from the stalls outside, i.e. Sek Ba, Pie Oh, etc. My personal favorite is Vinlin’s Cotton Japanese Bread 🍞 looking humble yet taste so soft & fluffy, it melts in your mouth - this is the type of traditional bread which you can never get tired of. There are 4 types: original (plain), cheese, chocolate & smoked beef.

Founded for the first time by an immigrant from China named Liong Kwie Tjong. Initially this shop was just a coffee shop located on “Petak 9” The name Tak Kie itself comes from the word 'Tak” which means a person who is wise, simple, and what it is. Meanwhile, the word “Kie” itself has a meaning that is easy for many people to remember. This name has not changed since it was first founded. The point of all that is, that the founder of this coffee shop wants to teach his successors to always look simple and work hard. Liong's son, Liong Tjoen, is the second generation to continue the business. Starting from this generation, the shop began to settle in a small shop located in Gloria's alley. Currently, this shop has a permanent place in Glodok. Various social media are used to promote and maintain the shop's existence. However, the classic characteristic of Tak Kie's coffee is maintained even though it has started online. I love the ambience, they still maintain their legecy as “Tak” itself and their coffee as well. Love it!

I went to this restaurant because I was told it was a legendary restaurant in the area, for me it was a disappointment. Only one dish was available : the nasi tim ayam (only for me, other customers were ordering other dishes .. which was already weird), and I also ordered one ice coffee The taste of food was correct and the ice coffee was good ! But compared to other local restaurants I tried, it was really expensive for the quantity (60 k for one nasi tim ayam + one ice coffee??) and the quality was good but not worth the high price. Note that the price was not mentionned on the menu. So maybe it was a « special price ? Will probably never know. I also don’t know why I was the only one who could not order other items.. maybe there is a link For comparison, the day before, I went to a similarly legendary restaurant in jogja and price was twice less for the best quality.

One of the oldest coffee shop in the area but somehow gaining lots of popularity lately and now its almost becoming half local half tourist place. The price isnt the cheapest, I might consider this a bit expensive for a local standard for a coffee place. But nonetheless this is still one of the place you need to visit while in Chinatown area. The system for seating is basically none, you just come and see if any table empty and sit before ordering anything. There will be time when you'll see people waiting just beside the table while there is still someone eating, dont feel offended, it just the way thing works here. They only serve beverage but outside the place there are many food stall and feel free to order from them and they will deliver the food right to your table.

The coffee is overrated for me. The taste is so-so, I had my es kopi susu too much ice. But seems like people really enjoy being there because the place was very crowded despite I went there at 11 am, not lunch time already. There are so many food stalls outside where you can bring the food inside, mostly serving porks. I ordered Nasi Campur for rp 40.000 with many kinds of pork meat and egg. The coffee is rp 17.000 for black coffee and rp. 20.000 for es kopi susu. Btw i like the hot black coffee because it's not sour.. i think they use robusta, not arabica. If you want to go there with Transjakarta, I suggest to stop at Kota shelter, take exit Museum Bank Mandiri, cross the street and walk straight. It's shorter and more comfortable than walk from Glodok shelter.

This coffee shop is managed by the Liong family and named Tak Kie. The shop is in the middle of the chinese camp, which is an area established by the Dutch East Indies Government according to Wijkstelsel (1843) that separates settlements based on race. This coffee shop offers basically only two types of coffee: plain coffee (black) and coffee with milk (sweetened condensed). The mainstay of coffee serving at Tak Kie is using ice. To taste: arguably delicious. That said, this coffee recipe was concocted by Ayauw, the grandson of Liong Kwie Tjong —a Chinese immigrant who opened Tak Kie. In addition, there are several food menus that you can choose to accompany drinking coffee like steamed buns (bakpau), cooked pork meat (bektim), or noodles.
