Read moreI came here yesterday and order florentine, very delicious and tasty.
What I found quite disappointing was noticing how one of the female waitress/cashier treated local guests differently compared to foreign tourists.
When I entered the café, only the male waiter greeted me. Later, when I was about to order, the female waitress happened to pass by my table, so I called her. She didn’t smile and simply waited for me to finish ordering, repeated my order, and left—still without any friendliness on her face.
While I was eating, I noticed the same waitress chatting cheerfully with some foreign tourists who were paying. Her face was bright, she even joked around with the tourists’ toddler.
Then, when it was my turn to pay, I intentionally greeted her first—“Hi, I’d like to pay please”—but she only responded briefly and still with the same indifferent expression. I asked if a Gojek driver could come to the front of the café, and she said yes, then told me I could wait outside instead. What?? She even decided for me where to wait instead of letting me choose whether to stay inside or wait outside.
Honestly, this difference in attitude between serving locals and foreigners has become somewhat of an open secret, but I still want to report it so this kind of service bias doesn’t become...
Read moreI recently visited ASAI Cafe in Jimbaran for breakfast, and while the setting was pleasant, the food left much to be desired.
Acai Bowl: The acai bowl was a significant letdown. It was far too watery and lacked the rich, dark color and thick consistency that a real acai bowl should have. It did not taste authentic, and the texture was more like a smoothie soup than a proper acai bowl. Avocado Toast: The avocado toast was quite bland. I had to add salt from the table to enhance the flavor, which was disappointing for such a popular breakfast item. The dish could definitely use some seasoning to bring out the taste. Smoked Salmon and Potato Pancakes: The smoked salmon was decent and provided a satisfactory balance to the breakfast. The potato pancakes were quite good, adding a nice texture and flavor to the plate. Cappuccino: The cappuccino was great, with a rich, smooth taste that was very enjoyable. It was one of the highlights of the meal and provided a much-needed boost to an otherwise underwhelming breakfast.
Overall, while the ASAI Cafe has potential with its lovely ambiance and decent coffee, the food needs significant improvements, especially in terms of flavor and authenticity. I hope they can address these issues to provide a more satisfying...
