Opia Bali — Restaurant in Kuta Selatan

It was a wedding experience of a lifetime. After our wedding with the help of the very helpful staff at Opia I instructed them to do their very best as this was not your ordinary marriage celebration. This indeed was a union that was put together by a supernatural Christian God that put this incredibly special woman in my life. They accepted the challenge. This was a surprise dinner. After the wedding I told my wife we were going to a special place we could buy better quality food and I was going to cook for her and our guests. She sort of bought it but thought this is really far out of the way and started to yell at our driver in Bahasa "where do you think you're going you're going the wrong way!!!" Driver says " patience please.....smiling" so we finally arrived but she says where's the store...I'm staying here I don't want people looking at me in the supermarket.....I started laughing then said sternly "you're my wife I'm telling you now to get out of the car we are going in" she looked like a scolded child and said Ok...so we entered the gate and was met by our lovely event manager. She said nothing as I guided her to the gate which allowed us in to a unimaginable candle lit table with a white rose floral arrangement surrounding our two plates, champagne glasses, silverware and menus. It was stunning. The table was at the end of a long walkway which was surrounded by water and Greece like architecture with very romantic lighting. It was like a fairy tale. My wife was so overwhelmed she didn't think we were in the right room and said OMG I'm getting out of here and she started running out. I started laughing and said " Honey this is all for you, she said no you're wrong it's not for me....she was stunned for a few moments until it sunk in. Tears ensued and very big smiles appeared....we pulled it off she had no idea.. I never saw her so happy and excited. Opia did an incredible job and are now a part of our wonderful family tradition. One of the most incredible, serene experiences my partner and I have ever had. We booked this restaurant on the day, looking for a gorgeous place to have some really lovely, affordable food with a view. We originally looked at places like 'The Rock' but the reviews mentioned about the food being 'mediocre', so we kept looking. This place stood out.

The environment - The place is something out of a movie - definitely looks like a wedding venue (I think it's used for that a lot too), which made the whole dining experience insane! The waitress greeted us with welcome drinks, and showed us to our table, which was overlooking the mountainside and the Bali statue.

The food - We were given a free starter taster (bread with brown butter, garnish and salt) which was so fresh. Beef tartare was so fresh and delicious to start. For main, I had the pork belly and my partner had the red snapper, both which were served with gorgeous sauces, extras and the meat itself was sublime.

The staff - best staff I have ever met. Didn't just 'serve' us throughout the night, they were one of the highlights of our evening. They became our friends. So friendly, welcoming and just overall happy to be there, which made us happy to be there too.

We were told by the staff that if we ever wanted to sit on the comfortable chairs overlooking the view in another area whilst we waited for our food, we were more than welcome. They treated the restaurant like it was ours for the night. Just incredible. Thanks guys you're...

We came a little bit earlier, to take couple of photo and video with a day light as a set up for it simply amazing! Stuff was very friendly and helpful to take photo of me and my girlfriend.

We have ordered a couple of red wine it was chilled and refreshing.. with it we got a complimentary Incredibly tasty mushroom/vegetables mix wrapped with crispy pastry. We loved it so much that we asked for another portion of it and the stuff was very friendly to accommodate 😋

Service on the very high level 2-3 waiters was serving us and it was great experience. Manager Claire was very friendly and attentive and was happy to explain in details about the dishes.

We ordered Ceviche platter for the starter and we absolutely love it. Was very fresh and amazing options of souses. Crab 🦀 was super yummy too.

For second course I got grilled Octopus 🐙 which was super fresh! My gf got the Australian Smoked Beef Stake and I managed to try it, didn’t expect that beef stake can melt in your mouth 🔝

While we had dinner chef Angelo from Peru came to us and was very friendly and informative, shared with us history of Peruvian cuisine 👍🏽👍🏽
