Disappointing Experience
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at a supposedly vegan restaurant, only to leave feeling incredibly dissatisfied and disheartened. As someone who values plant-based eating but prefers to avoid fake meat alternatives, I was shocked to encounter such a lack of accommodation and a downright unpleasant attitude from the chef.
First and foremost, most dishes on the menu failed to offer any diverse alternatives to the typical fake meat options. Being open to enjoying tofu or tempeh instead, I approached the chef to inquire if they would be willing to substitute these protein sources in place of their synthetic meat options. Instead of a considerate response, I was met with an unwelcoming attitude and an outright refusal to make any modifications. The lack of flexibility left me baffled and deeply disappointed, as it seems their definition of "vegan" only extends to those eager to consume imitation meat products.
When establishments proudly promote themselves as vegan restaurants, one would hope for an inclusive approach to catering to a variety of dietary preferences and restrictions. Unfortunately, this particular restaurant failed miserably in that regard, showing a blatant disregard for customer needs and preferences. Given the abundance of ingredient possibilities in the plant-based world, it was truly disheartening to see such limited options and seeming laziness in the culinary approach.
Beyond the frustrating experience with the chef's poor attitude, the overall dining experience also left a lot to be desired. The ambiance was lackluster, contributing to an underwhelming atmosphere.
Based on my experience, I strongly caution fellow diners who appreciate the concept of veganism but are not fans of fake meat substitutes to seek alternative dining options. This restaurant's refusal to accommodate simple and logical dietary requests and the chef's sour attitude demonstrate a severe lack of customer service and commitment to customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, this particular vegan restaurant has failed to embrace the essence of plant-based dining by being unaccommodating and displaying poor customer service. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who values personalized dining experiences and a wide range of vegan options beyond artificial meat...
Read moreExcellent vegan food, certainly the best in the area.
As someone who has tried almost every dish on their menu (lol 💪), I generally prefer their Indonesian dishes, firstly because I tend to find Chinese-Indonesian food to be too much adapted to suit local taste anyway (so if you grew up here you might disagree with me), but mostly because their Indonesian dishes are on point. They're super authentic and taste amazing, even better than a lot of non-vegan Indonesian restaurants. Their rendang is mostly potatoes but it's excellent, their kalasan you don't get very much of (at all) but it's excellent, their sambel tempe dishes are so oily but they're excellent, their jengkol has a weird texture but the balado is excellent and their sate madura is just excellent.
That said, I do absolutely love the squid and the BBQ meat is the stuff of dreams, totally tastes like legit Chinese pork. Just perfect. So perfect I could wake up to it every morning. And the mun tahu is really good too.
The vegan meat texture is still a little bit of a hit and miss. The seafood doesn't really taste like seafood, with the exception of the squid which is excellent. Sometimes the chicken really tastes like chicken, and sometimes it really doesn't. But the pork. The pork is great. Dreamy great. But I've said that already.
Service is a little bit inattentive. And their portions (or rather, their potatoes/rice : meat ratio) could do with a bit of work. But it's like I eat here every other day so I'm really just nitpicking at this point. Thanks for all...
Read moreOkay let me turn you onto something. If you’re a budget vegan, this is where you should go. But the only thing you need to know is this: the burger deal cannot be beat. It has vegan cheese, vegan mayo, spicy sauce, fries, and a little salad for 38k. Usually a serving of fries is at least 20k alone! You can’t get this deal with* vegan cheese, etc anywhere else. Tip: add salt to the fries. And I literally put the whole side salad on my burger the second time I ate it, and it totally elevated the burger if you’re really just there to have a cheese burger haha. It was so good, I brought one home! The bbq pork bowl- 35k is not bad, but it’s pretty bland with unseasoned fried tofu and plain white rice. I asked for extra bbq sauce to put on the bowl, and it was great then. The bbq pork meat is not my preference- kinda like chewy sheets of fake meat. It needs something vinegary to make the bowl feel complete. Pickled onions perhaps. The cake- it satisfied a craving, and was 30k. It was good! Because I wanted cake. The flavor was exactly like a Walmart cake from the deli mixed with a hostess cupcake. That’s exactly how it tasted. And that’s not an insult. Sometimes that super unhealthy flavor can be exactly what you wish you could have when you’re vegan lol. And the slice was really big. Also the place was super clean, and the staff was nice. It’s a bit awkward at night with the windows closed. But still, you need to go...
