I went to this place for dinner 3 times this week haha.
I’ve traveled & lived in so many different countries. Whenever I go, I always try to experience the local culture.
When I visited Paris, I explored the French cuisine, and when I went to Barcelona, I tried the Spanish food. Essentially, what I love about traveling around the world is experiencing different cultures, including their unique cuisines.
I must say that Bali is starting to lose its essence compared to 10-15 years ago. When I visit Bali, it feels like I'm in a city in another country—most of the cafes & restos serve Western food, which is somewhat disappointing.
I know we also need to cater to visitors' taste palate, but we still need to find the balance between catering to visitors & keeping the authenticity of Bali.
Loca Warung 100% did that: fusion foods — a blend of Western, Balinese, and Indonesian cuisine. 100% affordable compared to what they serve, I don’t know how they can serve 200 g of Tuna for only 80K—friendly & kind staff.
It’s not a fancy cafe, it’s literally a WARUNG but I LOVE IT! Bali needs more places like this. I missed these authentic Bali vibes from 10-15 years ago.
GOOD JOB, LOCA WARUNG! PLEASE KEEP BEING LIKE THIS, KEEP BEING FRIENDLY...
Read moreThe vegetarian nasi campur was absolutely delicious! It also helps that the sambal didn't have to have shrimp paste in it, so even the nonveg option was fantastic for those with shellfish allergies. Though I forgot to take pics of the food, I'm very thoroughly satisfied with the taste of the food. One person at our table who hadn't eaten much Indonesian food before, said that it felt like he was eating home-cooked food from a friend's place.
It was also really nice that they were able to accommodate 12 of us on such short notice too, pulling multiple tables together and rolling out dishes relatively quickly. The place definitely seems like it has more of a cafe vibe that caters to foreigners, but truly the indo food felt authentic and was just delicious. It's a fantastic place to have dinner, especially after watching the Kecak dance at the...
Read moreThis place was one of the closest locations to our accommodations and we are so happy it was or else we probably wouldn’t have ever gone. With that being said, we are so happy we did. We ended up dining there 4 times in 4 days. Their breakfast, specifically, is fantastic for their prices! Their French toast with Nutella is delicious. Any of the egg breakfasts you get are large, filling, and tasty - the bagel is huge, the smoothie bowl is large! We could go on and on. The only con we have is that it does take a while for the food to come out (though this didn’t bother us because we were never in a rush, it is a least a solid 30-45 minute wait to get your food after you have placed your order). Once the food arrives though, we can assure you, you will pleased with what you get, how much you get, AND how much you have...
