ANCAK RESTAURANT & LOUNGE — Restaurant in Kuta

Service was so slow - took 20 minutes to bother taking our order (despite flagging them down and saying we wanted to order), then drinks took another 15 minutes (a frozen cocktail and a pina colada). Our food took so long that we had been at the restaurant for an hour before it came out. Food was meh - pretty flavourless and sparse. The Indonesian food was very Westernised. Cocktails were meh - again flavourless and not what you would be expecting before you ordered. We are staying at the hotel, so this has meant we will not be eating here again. We came on a Wednesday when there was a live band - the music was way too loud for a hotel restaurant. The server apologised for the delay in everything, citing that it was "really busy". I looked over at the four tables that were all getting the bbq banquet, but the server stood strong. Restaurant service is similar to the service of the hotel - go somewhere else.

During my stay at Mercure Legian, I decided to dine at their in-house restaurant, Ancak Restaurant and Lounge. I chose the fish and chips and was impressed by how well-cooked the fish was. The crispy coating perfectly complemented the tender and flavorful fish inside. I highly recommend trying their fish and chips; they are truly delicious. Had lunch here on our first day in Bali. The food was good, the burger meat tasted a little different but was still really nice. The cocktails were great and the service was awesome.
