Very disappointing experience, I cannot comprehend how this place has such a high rating. The food is average at best. I ordered main and dessert and they were both made with the cheapest ingredients and no love, tasted like the free breakfast you get at hostels.
I paid over 150k (£10) for an avo toast that was basically dry white toast and a bunch of lettuce, and some meh pancakes. For the quality of the food, it felt expensive. They add almost 20% to the bill in taxes, more than any other restaurant I’ve been to in Bali, so the cheap prices on the menu are misleading.
Also, there was absolutely nobody there but me which was a bit weird. I think I won't try a restaurant that’s empty ever again, no matter its Google reviews.
EDIT — RESPONSE TO DEFENSIVE OWNER:
Yes, I ate the food since I was starving and had to pay for it anyway. The fact that you point that out to defend yourself is pathetic. I didn't complain with your staff because I don't like confrontation, unlike you it seems. Learn to take criticism constructively and improve your service.
Your tax is not in line with Bali's restaurants, which is 0 to 15% in posh places. Gossip Cafe is not a posh place, so why is yours 18.5%? Pay your staff more if you need to.
There was one single customer who came in all evening, an older man in his 60s or 70s, who had a quick meal and left in half an hour.
There are tens of people queueing every evening at Santorini just a few minutes from your place. Maybe pay them a visit one day, you have...
Read moreChanced upon this when the original cafe we went to was too hot & noisy… a great find! We did wait more than 10min for our meal but it was worth it… One of the best nasi goreng in bali- superb heat & aroma. We also had the soto ayam which was delicious with generous amount of chicken & a whole egg. The breakfast package at Idr100,000 includes very good coffee & a juice on top of a main. They do serve western breakfast. The non diary smoothie is also fantastic value at Idr50,000 for a good size. Will definitely want to try other items on the menu.
Finally, nice casual, cool atmosphere, a respite from other noisier, popular cafes. Fantastic service.

Read moreHad breakfast there a couple of days ago and and glad I did. Menu is varied and has a different menu from 5pm with more dinner type choices. I had a tropical sunrise smoothie bowl and waffle with coffee. The smoothie bowl full of flavour and looked colourful and was so filling plus tasted amazing. I was lucky as they had a waffle package for just 50 ++ which was 2 waffles and a coffee which was a bargain so breakfast was about $11.50 aud. Service was fast and attentive from Ria and De Jung and the coffee the best I have had in bali...and I love my long black coffee. The owner came in and chatted with everyone and was so friendly. Going back soon for dinner to try...
