Atrocious. What. The. F. Happened to this place!? Firstly, the positives- Ambience, service are all still great. Everything else was bottom of the barrel. 8 of us dined. The cocktails were all equally poor- all with the dominant “rocket fuel” taste (everyone squeezing in the lime or orange garnish and stirring madly to try melt the ice and improve them). It ended up being more fun trying each others to see who’s was worse. And the food? Edible - nothing more. The bruschetta was basic cheese melted on some bread roll with some bits in it- maybe tomato maybe capsicum- who knows..olive oil? No. The garlic bread was three slices of bread roll with some melted butter and mayyybe some garlic. All of the dishes we received were at best average (think highway roadhouse) to poor- small boring servings with no effort in presentation. I’m an average to below average cook yet I could plate up a tiny thin steak, a ball of mash potato, three slices of carrot and a floret of broccoli with more pizazz than the sparse plates we received. In my case, the rump steak was 4 pieces of what looked like stir fry strips, 4 bits of carrot, a floret of broccoli and a spread out layer of fries. Apparently there was garlic butter; Maybe that was the little dollop of something the size of a paperclip next to my steak that had zero garlic taste. Oh and a little bowl of tomato sauce. What imagination. I commented when paying the bill if they had a new chef as the food was nowhere near what it used to be to which the waitress replied “no”. Well something has happened. While It was busy tonite, it seems that it’s reputation has only dived recently so it’s running on reputation. It won’t be busy much longer if this is the level of food...
Read moreHave been coming here for several years, also stayed at the hotel. I took a first time visitor to Bali here, to see the Beatles tribute band (Facebeat), who are fabulous ! and to have dinner. 4 stars given to the band. Arrived to our reserved table having been given to someone else. Scrambled to find us another table. Food ordered was well below their usual standard. Beef shanks with a side of lasagne, 4 tiny pieces of walnut sized meat with chunks of pasta sheets, served cold. Second meal, pork spare ribs, so tough the knife provided did not penetrate the meat, and also served luke warm. So very disappointed at the poor meals provided. A couple seated next to us, also had similar issues with their meals. They argued and refused to pay for their meals. Our meals were replaced with our original orders, another sub standard effort for the beef dish, more a pasta dish than the beef shank meal described on the menu. The second attempt at pork ribs was a huge improvement to the first, as well as being served hot. Not sure if there has been a change in kitchen staff, chefs, and quality control ? Serving staff didn’t say. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I would venture here again to see the band, however, eat...
Read moreThey completely ruined my mood. The menu had three types of Wagyu steak. A staff member told me to choose the most expensive one, saying it was the best. But 15 minutes later, another person came and told me that this steak was unavailable. Why waste so much of my time? It completely ruined my mood, and I didn’t want to stay any longer. I didn’t want to order the remaining steaks—why would I? I was just told they were worse. And why should I pay almost the same price for something inferior?
In the end, I ordered a lobster. But my friend had ordered a lobster earlier. As a result, I had to sit and wait for mine to be prepared while my friend was already eating. I’ve only been coming here for breakfast because I’m staying at the hotel. This was my first time trying dinner, and it was a complete disappointment.
I will come back to the hotel, but I will never come to the restaurant again. If they ruined my mood over something like this, it means there’s a systematic problem. The waiters don’t know what’s on the stop list.
P.S. The food and cocktails here are delicious, but this situation really pissed me off. This is my last day of vacation in Bali, and they ruined it. Yes, it may seem like a small thing, but it...
