Absolute Tourist Scam – Avoid Blue Ocean Seafood at All Costs!
This place is a disgrace. My wife and I came to Blue Ocean Seafood expecting a romantic, special evening — instead, we got overpriced food, filthy tables, and a “honeymoon experience” that felt like a rushed school cafeteria setup.
Let’s be clear: this restaurant is nothing more than a tourist trap. The prices are ridiculously inflated — easily DOUBLE what you’d pay at any decent local seafood spot for the exact same dishes. It’s an absolute insult to both your wallet and your intelligence.
We booked their so-called “honeymoon table” — what a joke. The table was dirty, poorly prepared, and felt like it hadn’t even been wiped down. The setting was anything but intimate or romantic. They were doing the same half-baked “special” table setup for about 10 other couples at the same time, totally killing any sense of uniqueness or effort. It was chaotic and sloppy — there’s nothing special or memorable about being part of a conveyor-belt-style honeymoon dinner.
We left feeling frustrated, ripped off, and frankly embarrassed that we fell for their marketing. There’s no heart in what they do — just a cash grab aimed at clueless tourists.
Do yourself a favor: skip this sham of a restaurant. Spend your money at a local place that actually values its customers and knows how to make a moment...
Read moreOur driver took us to this place with the promise that it's "the best seafood spot in the area". The view is alright and the staff we're nice but the positives pretty much end there.. The chairs were filthy and extremely uncomfortable to sit on, the food was way way too overpriced, especially for its D- quality. The "salad" was cut up carrots, onions and cucumbers with some horrible mayo sauce on the side, and the rice (which was very bland) came in some wooden bowl that had ants crawling around on the outside.. If we ignore all that and jump to The star of the show, seafood, it was extremely bland, lacked seasoning, tasted like the fish had been sitting in the sun for a day or two, and it was downright disappointing.. I came to Bali expecting to find the best seafood I've ever tasted but this honestly put me off trying seafood here again. Oh and i won't forget to mention, next to us sat a couple that decided to play very loud music on their phones and when asked politely to turn it down a little their response was "its only loud enough for us to hear" and the staff had nothing to say about that. Overall the experience was mediocre at best, definitely whouldnt come back and whouldnt recommend it to anyone visiting...
Read moreWe actually wanted to go to another restaurant. However, the local driver insisted on taking us to this one, claiming he had already made a booking and that we couldn't cancel because they had already prepared the ingredients. Either he was getting a commission 😅 or something else was going on.
The food wasn't tasty at all. It was overpriced, and the portions, especially for the calamari, were small. We ordered what was supposed to be 'siakap', but it turned out to be frozen fish calamari with lots of bones. The squid had a chicken-like texture, and the fruit they provided wasn't cooked. We ordered a set meal with rice, kangkung, and corn soup, and the total price was 345,000 rupiah, equivalent to RM101 or $21.5 USD. It was overpriced and definitely not worth it. Additionally, what we understood earlier from the driver was that the total per person would be 185,000 rupiah, but when we paid at the cashier, it was almost double that. While the beach scenery was nice (although it’s so hot and they didnt provide the umbrella), the overall experience was extremely disappointing.
Please don't follow suggestions from local people or drivers! This place is nonsense. We really regret following their...
