We were trying to find a good restaurant at the beach and went to Tepi Pantai because of its good reviews and pleasant atmosphere. Sad to say the dinner was extremely underwhelming. To start off we ordered two platters of Seafood, being told by a waiter that it was more than enough food for 7 people. However, the two platters were barely enough for 3 people they gave us half of the food quantities that were written on the menu (300g fish, 300g crab etc). Because of this we were forced to order the family platter (1 kilo of each type of seafood) to compensate. In the end we barely managed to be full as the food was accompanied by some plain rice and sauces. The quality of the food was also horrible. Most of the fish had little to no flavour and came cold and chewy, we had to ask to reheat the calamari for example. They also swapped out the fish soup included in the package for a disgusting asparagus soup. In the end we complained to the waiter about the quantity and quality of our food, hoping for a generous discount and they gave us a Rp 100.000 discount, which is nothing compared to the extremely high prices of the seafood platters. We ended up spending Rp 2.600.000 total, 370.000 per person with tax and discount which is incredibly expensive for Balinese standards, as you can probably find a good fried rice for about 1/10 of the price. Overall horrible quantity and price-quality ration. Definitely would not...
Read moreThis was our second trip to Bali and our second time visiting Jimbaran Beach.
Although it was windy and cloudy and we didn’t get to see the sunset, the beach was still beautiful and very crowded.
The restaurant we chose is quite popular among tourists, and it was clear they were understaffed—there wasn’t enough staff to attend to everyone. We had to find our own seats and walk around looking for someone to take our order.
Thankfully, our waitress was very kind, spoke fairly fluent English, and gave us helpful recommendations.
We ended up ordering almost all the seafood on the menu—lobster, crab, fish, clams, squid, and prawns. The steamed lobster was slightly overcooked, so the meat turned a bit chewy. The clams were very good, especially with the garlic and cheese topping. The grilled fish was sweet, spicy, and quite flavourful. The crab and prawns were on the smaller side and tasted okay. The calamari was well-cooked, and the dipping sauce it came with was interesting and tasty.
We also tried the fried kangkong. The leaves were a bit tough, but the sauce made up for it.
As a place for fresh seafood by the beach, there’s not much to complain about. The food quality is solid, though it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Still, it was an enjoyable...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant after looking at the menus of many others during the day and this was one of the few that smelled of raw fish at its doorway and was not old looking. Most of them had live or dead fish on the outside for display which was imo really sad to see. So we went to this place. We called the waiter to us and he brought menus. We ordered drinks and he brought them and was very attentive. As the evening went on our meal took one hour to come out and was cold. The prawns were overcooked the fish was not filleted like the waiter said it would be - still had the head and tail on. Calamari was overcooked. The waiter said the clams were not available and asked if we’d be ok with prawns (overcooked). We ate the he spinach which was average then ate the rice. The rice the best that we ate. On top of this when we went to pay they showed the receipt and I said ok. I said pay by card and the cashier pulled out a calculator and tried to add tax on like I’d been drinking and I firmly said it was in the bill and they reverted back to the bill I was originally given. Very disappointing and wondering whether this is the standard along the bay from years of cheap good seafood to poor quality seafood...
