Atmosphere: Pallas Greek Tavern offers an immersive experience that transports you straight to Greece. The traditional Greek decor, combined with authentic Greek music, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a slice of Greek culture in the heart of Bali.
Service: The service at Pallas Greek Tavern stands out for its speed and friendliness. The staff is attentive and ensures that your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable. Their prompt service means you won't be waiting long to dive into your meal.
Food and Beverages: Greek Salad (6/10): The salad was fresh but lacked the robust flavors typically associated with a traditional Greek salad. It could use a bit more seasoning to elevate the taste. Moussaka (10/10): An absolute standout, the moussaka was rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It's a must-try for anyone visiting the tavern. Tzatziki (2/10): Unfortunately, the tzatziki was disappointing. It lacked garlic and the authentic taste one would expect, falling short of a true Greek experience. Pork Souvlaki (9/10): Nearly perfect, the pork souvlaki was tender and flavorful, offering a satisfying taste of Greece. Local Beer: While the beer was good, it was on the pricier side. This might be worth considering if you're planning to enjoy a few drinks with your meal.
Presentation and Portions: The dishes are well-presented, adding to the overall dining experience. However, the portion sizes are slightly smaller than expected, which might be a consideration for those with larger appetites.
Pricing: The pricing at Pallas Greek Tavern is reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the experience provided. The only exception is the beer, which is relatively expensive compared to the other items on the menu.
Recommendation: If you're in Bali and craving an authentic Greek experience, Pallas Greek Tavern is worth a visit. The atmosphere and friendly service make it a great spot to enjoy a traditional Greek meal, even if some dishes could use a bit of tweaking.
In summary, Pallas Greek Tavern offers a delightful escape to Greece with its ambiance and standout dishes like the moussaka and pork souvlaki. While there are a few areas for improvement, it remains a recommended destination for anyone wanting to enjoy a taste of Greece far...
Read moreFor guests who have no knowledge of Greek cuisine, this might be a decent restaurant where you can get full in Bali. Of course, you can't necessarily expect great Greek food in Bali, but the competition just down the street offers excellent Greek cuisine.
Personally, I am a chef and frequently travel to rural Greece, so I don’t look for upscale dining but rather simple, authentic, and well-prepared Greek food that I can fairly evaluate.
The most important part first:
The service, especially Nitia, was outstanding—always attentive, very customer-oriented, and even able to offer advice.
The food:
The small Greek dips, like tzatziki and the other spreads I ordered, were far too small in portion size—in Greece, you’d get three times as much. The taste was also below average.
The fried zucchini needed a few more minutes in the oil; the crust unfortunately fell apart too easily.
The saganaki was not only not particularly flavorful but also way too small—about half the size of a normal portion in Greece (see picture).
The pita bread was a disaster—rubbery, chewy, undercooked, and lacking in flavor.
Conclusion:
This is a restaurant trying to jump on the Greek food trend but unfortunately not executing it well. The price-performance ratio is definitely off. However, for someone unfamiliar with Greek cuisine, it might be a place to...
Read moreThe restaurant is bright, spacious and clean. (The bathrooms need an air freshener, though). The service was impeccable, our server Santi was excellent! The mix dip and bread was the appetizer we chose, the dips were amazing, the pita was standard, the rosemary bread was doughy. The Kalamata olives were local and were good. The saganaki was not what we are personally used to and it may be part of their fusion approach, but the flour batter and honey did not quite do it for me. Then we had the chicken souvlaki, small portion and we had asked to sub the pita for a little extra salad. Which they were kind enough to do. The salad was basically a Greek salad sans olives and feta. The dressing was very good. Then came dessert, baklava, the pastry was too soggy the actual mix of nuts, well not fine enough and other than a sugar syrup and cinnamon flavour I didn’t get much. The drinks were okay, the mojito was made with tonic and not soda for sweetening instead of muddling sugar and mint leaves,, the pina colada that my wife ordered, which they were kind enough to entertain her request for not making it too sweet, had another flavour that could not be pin pointed, she tried to finish but could not. I have rated it a four, because nothing was considered to be bad, but I think it missed the mark for flavour, and fusion shouldn’t be an...
