Seminyak Beach, located on the west coast of Bali, is one of the island’s most famous and stylish coastal destinations. Known for its long stretch of golden sand and sophisticated atmosphere, Seminyak offers a perfect balance between relaxation, leisure, and vibrant nightlife. Unlike some of the busier beaches in Bali, Seminyak manages to maintain an upscale and laid-back vibe that attracts both international tourists and locals seeking a refined beach experience.
One of the highlights of Seminyak Beach is its stunning sunset view. Every evening, visitors gather along the shoreline to witness the sky transform into shades of orange, pink, and purple. The beach is also lined with chic beach clubs, trendy bars, and luxury resorts, making it an ideal place for those who enjoy a lively social scene. Famous venues such as Ku De Ta and Potato Head Beach Club have become iconic landmarks, offering great cocktails, music, and oceanfront views.
For daytime activities, Seminyak Beach is popular among surfers, especially beginners and intermediate levels, thanks to its consistent waves. Sunbathing, swimming, and beach walks are equally enjoyable here. The sand is soft, the water is refreshing, and the atmosphere feels more relaxed compared to nearby Kuta. In addition, the surrounding area of Seminyak is home to high-end boutiques, art galleries, and world-class dining options, making it a complete lifestyle destination.
Overall, Seminyak Beach is more than just a place to relax by the ocean—it represents Bali’s chic and modern side while still preserving its natural charm. Whether you are looking for a romantic escape, a stylish hangout with friends, or simply a peaceful beach day, Seminyak offers a memorable experience that captures the essence of Bali’s...
Read moreWe came to Bali to wait out the dry season with peak air pollution in the rest of south east Asia, with Bali being the only area in the region with still OK clean-ish baseline air most of the time due to its natural wind currents - that's according to IQAir quality data online.
We chose Seminyak because it's the only place in Bali with a sidewalk + walkable to supermarkets.
BUT, whilst the baseline air we measured on the ground is indeed clean most of the time, with pollution ranging between 3-15 mg/m3 of PM 2.5 on average in January at our accommodation far from the road so far, which is quite good, when we need to walk anywhere, the crazy number of motorbikes even on the small tourist streets, comprising of Grab drivers and some local people out and about, is absolutely crazy!
It's crazy noisy, and the air pollution next to the road we measured gets up to 200 mg/m3 for PM 2.5 on an average evening even on a small street, which is terrible! We came here for the clean air, but this is what we got!
Bali could do so well to position itself for its naturally pure air by getting everyone to ride bicycles, for example, at least where there are many people walking. It's not like anyone is driving fast anyway due to the traffic here, so they might as well all be on bicycles.
Bali will then attract visitors and preserve itself and its nature as a pure air haven simultaneously, where people can come for the health benefits, instead of destroying itself with sll the crazy and unnecessary pollution!
Win win for all - for Bali, it's people and...
