This is the worst experience I've had since being in Seminyak. I hate to write reviews like this, but businesses need to know these things in order to help them improve.
My partner and I came in here last night and I chose to have the steak and Guiness "pie" with mashed potato. My partner had the carbonara pasta with extra prawns.
Starting with mine - what I got was a pile of gravy in a bowl with a piece of puff pastry thrown on the top of it. To call this a "pie" is sacrilege and I wouldn't even go so far as to saying it was very edible. The small tiny bits of "steak" that were in the gravy slop were so tiny that it was more like mince meat. The pastry was surprisingly tough, yet also undercooked and rubbery. How they managed to stuff that up, I don't know.
My partner's carbonara was no better, the pasta was so overcooked an gluggy, the sauce was disgusting and the taste was making her feel sick she could couldn't even finish half of it.
When you're trying to achieve an Australian menu such as this, you need to perfect some simple things, these were not done right and left us both disappointed and hungry.
The staff were absolutely lovely though, which was so hard to accept because the food was so disgusting.
Perhaps we should've stuck with local Indonesian food, but sometimes you crave something else, which is why we chose Lucky Day Sports Bar, but we will sadly never, ever be coming back, and I'll be sure to express my opinion about the quality of food everywhere else.
We thought it was strange how everyone else around us was just drinking, not eating...perhaps they knew what we didn't.
Sadly...
Read moreDo not come here to watch the Women's WORLD Cup, they don't play it even if it's advertised on the board.
Literally the only reason we chose this place out of the MANY sports bars on this street is because they're the only ones who had the Women's World Cup advertised on the board at the entrance. We got in 30 minutes before the match was supposed to start. Ordered drinks and food. Waited. Then 5 minutes before the match begins we asked them if they were about to change 1 out of the 8+ screens. The manager said no because everyone was watching this LOCAL Australian rugby match. That's fine. It's a sports bar, everyone's watching their thing. But surely you can change one screen, no? We're not "demanding" anything, your board says you'll play it at 8. There's 2 of us sharing a table with 2 strangers watching rugby and right next to us there's just one guy, who had just arrived, taking a table of 6, watching the same Australian match everyone else is. Of course it's not this guy's fault, but I want to emphasize that there was a choice to be made and the manager made it. They could have changed that one screen for that one table next to us. But he chose to accommodate 1 man instead of 2 women, he chose not to play the game they said they'd play.
Don't spend your hard earned money here, just out...

Lucky Day is a relaxed venue with great beer and food, and the prices are good.
The staff here are pretty wonderful too. We met Putu today - she says lots of Balinese people are named Putu (it means first born) but trust me, you will recognise this Putu. She is friendly and helpful and happy to stay and chat if it's not too busy. Absolutely adorable.
We had the ribs and wings with chips and onion rings. Mostly we've been going for Indonesian/Balinese food but sometimes you just want something familiar, especially if you're watching the soccer. The ribs were amazing - can't quite pick what was in the marinade, but there were spices in it that stood apart from the regular sweet-tomato-vinegar sauce you often get on ribs.
Really a totally decent venue with great staff -...
