We stopped by for dinner as we were craving authentic italian pasta and the reviews sounded promising.
The ambience is great. Classic italian music, dimmed lights and beautiful interior/decoration. The menu caters to everyone as they offer Italian, Indonesian and Western food. (Personally, I'm not a fan of that and prefer restaurants sticking to one cuisine. It's kind of a telltale). It's still well rounded and you will find some pretty fancy as well as classy dishes. Staff was absolutely wonderful, really friendly and attentive to your needs.
Now I'm Italian and I know myself around the authentic Italian cuisine (as I saw some replies from the owner disagreeing with some reviews). Let's say, I know what I'm talking about. We've ordered a focaccia as an appetizer and Spaghetti Aglio e Olio & Gnocchi Sorrentina as main dishes. The focaccia was actually tasty, well balanced flavors. But I would rather classify it as Pizza Pane as it wasn't fluffy and honestly too flat and crunchy in the middle. Still tasty, though. Now for the main dishes. The gnocchi itself were great, well cooked. I believe them to be home-made. But the sauce was still too sour, probably lacking just a pinch of sugar to balance out the acidity of the tomato. The mozzarella smelled and tasted off to me, it had a strong scent to it. Now the Spaghetti on the other hand weren't al dente but undercooked. Just one, two more minutes would've made a difference. The flavor reminded me too much of Spaghetti alle Vongole. I used to love fish but I've been a strict vegetarian for 6 years now and just could tell that something was off. It tasted fishy, as if they prepared the pasta in the same pan as a seafood dish. It was overpowering and no garlic flavor came through.
We wouldn't come back. As promising as the place might look, the food was disappointing. At least the prices were fair. There's a lot more improvement and attention needed in...
Read moreThe restaurant looks very inviting and the menu reads very well. We choose to sit outside due to the lovely atmosphere whilst still enjoying the busy streets of Bali.
Our waitress comes to take our order and unfortunately she isn't warm in nature like some of the other waitresses however she does her job, takes our order and serves the wine.
We are a group of 4 adults and 2 children. The order is 1 starter of 3 oysters. And 5 mains. My father orders the oysters as the starter and they are lovely and fresh. Soon after the arrival of the oysters the first main meal arrives which was rendang. The dish is tasty but not the best rendang. Several minutes later the second main dish arrives....several minutes later the third main dish and then the forth main arrives. At this point the oysters are cleared and he now waits as we all slowly finish our meals. We notice the owners were there and draw it to their attention. She goes to check on the main. As she goes the dish arrives.
We wanted to eat as a family together which we told the owner when we questioned where the last main was. What bothered us most was that at no point did the owner come back to at the very least apologise for the delay after she had gone to check on it. We also weren't offered more drinks from the wait staff and only got more on fly as they cleared the empty glasses. We continued to wait 20 mins hoping to be offered the dessert menu. We asked for the bill instead.
We honestly felt ignored. We noticed that the owners seemed more concerned with chatting to their Italian friends who were sitting right next to us.
We appreciated the complimentary limoncello and it was lovely but unfortunately we were hoping to come back to this restaurant during our 2 weeks stay...
Read moreWe tried this restaurant the very first night we arrived. We went back every night expect for one, where we decided to try the in-house restaurant at the resort we were staying at, the Blu-Zea. This restaurant is about 70 metres down the road from the resort, so if you are ever staying there, this place is hands down the best food in the area! You can tell from the presentation of each dish it is going to be good....then you try it and my God it is levels above what you expected. Every single dish was exceptional. My partner and I love Bruschetta and every restaurant we go to we order it for our entree...this is the best Bruschetta we have ever had, and we have tried so many different ones. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to food, and I have never been to Bali before this trip, so I wanted to try an authentic Nasi Goreng. This one is amazing. Cooked perfectly and complemented by 2 satay chicken skewers. We did not have dessert as we are not dessert lovers, but I have no doubt the dessert would be high in quality also. If you are in the area of this restaurant or staying at the Blu Zea, you MUST visit this restaurant! Devi was our waitress every night and she is amazing! The crazy thing i couldnt believe was the prices....they are so cheap. For something priced so cheap you would not expect this level of quality. We will be back next year and again will be visiting Capri every night...
