EXPENSIVE and a tad overrated, good overall experience.
In that neighborhood, you can’t have higher prices than SISTERFIELDS which is in the heart of hearts with exorbitantly high rental costs ...
Further, I would appreciate to know what I’m paying from the onset, when I read the menu rather than the American ”plus-plus” etiquette which btw I’m used to when in Manhattan.
In fairness, it is mentioned explicitly at the bottom end of the menu that this is not net pricing, however it would be nice and respectful if list prices are net, inclusive of all taxes, duties, service etc. rather than an add-on on ones bill.
A cappuccino here will set you back 40,200 IDR when the market going rates in Seminyak are between 25K to 30K.
I do appreciate the fact that the coffee quality could be a lot better than others but that should justify a 20% premium at best!
The smashed avocado/feta was excellent and the home made pesto one of a kind. The fried noodles with eggs was just fine. The banana straw smoothie was very delicious. The service was discreet and polite (thank you mrs. Agung) The ambience is pretty cool and the restroom impeccably clean.
With choices in Seminyak such as but not limited to:
NALU BOWLS, INGKA, CLEAN CANTEEN , WACKO, MYWARUNG, NOOK, MONSIEUR SPOON, KIM SOO, and so on and so forth, top quality as well as FAIR VALUE FOR MONEY should be anyone’s consideration, Businessmen and...
Read moreExtensive coffee menu here - I ordered the Cold Brew Straight Shot (35K++ IDR) because I just can't pass up a cold brew when I see one. Other options for cold brew include With Milk (40K++ IDR), With Water (35K++ IDR), & Iced Cappuccino (35K++ IDR)... But I wanted to have it au naturale.
It was lovely. Refreshing & light, a little bit fruity but just a hint. Would definitely drink this again - unfortunately I am a 30 minute walk away but this was absolutely worth the journey.
I was so impressed that I ordered another coffee: Flat White (35K++ IDR), which didn't disappoint either. Chatted with the staff a little - they are so friendly ☺ Good vibes here & would recommend a visit for those who love coffee.
I found out more about their rescued civet cats that were playing happily behind me (before taking a nap, as they are nocturnal creatures). Their names are Che Che & Jojo, aged 4 & 1 & are female & male respectively. Being nocturnal creatures, they don't see well in daylight so be sure to let them smell you for a bit before patting them gently.

Read moreI have visited this place 2x during a pandemic and understood the slow service with the number of teams. However, the business now has back and more competitor coffee shops are surrounding, which I truly recommend TheKoopcafe make their service efficient for team movement and guest convenience time :
I have asked for sharing plates for my food. Great anticipate from the team by offering to divide the food into 2 plates, but still cutlery came for 1 set. I had to ask again.
I have asked my coffee to be served 20 minutes after serving breakfast ( not after finished ). Then, they asked me if coffee can be made while my breakfast had finished 5 minutes ago.
Coffee served, which ideally also comes with sugar, regardless customer will use sugar or not. This again, I have to ask for sugar.
There is still plenty of room for improvement to be effective in doing service, and avoid delay and too much movement with the team up and down. Just simply by putting staff on the 2nd floor, putting spare equipment on the 2nd floor, and attention to detail.
Hope this feedback helps Thekoopcafe grow better. And I still love their coffee's great...
