Have gone a handful of times now, eaten, played some of their games, and bought a couple games also.
Staff is lovely and accommodating, gifted a game that a friend had to state his name to receive and they played along well and he loved it.
Vibe and layout is nice for the cafe with 2 floors, nice display shelves of the games to go with those that show off the food. Music could be a better playlist and a touch quieter. I don’t know anyone who enjoys Katy Perry on repeat, especially when trying to read/concentrate/explain rules.
Food is good, healthy options which are nice with no meat options at all which I don’t mind too much. The mango smoothie bowl was delicious, granola bowl was good. Strawberry banana smoothie was average. I’ve also tried the brunch plate and found the “alternative” sausage wasn’t my favorite. I do look forward to trying the burger as it has rave reviews hoping the “meat” is different from the “sausage.” All coffee is oat milk by default which is nice, coffee was good. Water is priced terribly in my opinion which is my biggest gripe.
The game selection is quite vast with a bit of everything from basic/beginners like chess or monopoly, to some really advanced games like Bloodrage/Root and more with everything between. I do like the simplicity of 45k as maximum you pay for gameplay time. I also like that if you buy a game it gives you credit for food or gameplay time. I do wish some of the games for sale they also had available to play like Scythe for example. Would also like to nominate Spirit Island to make it to the available games.
If I had some constructive feedback to offer the cafe: A) the music is a bit too loud, especially for the genre which just seemed to be a popular hits playlist. Reduce volume, consider more acoustic/ambient genre. B) my biggest gripe, a small water bottle is 30k - one could easily spend over 100k just on water during your game session. This just isn’t priced fairly. C) a call button for upstairs would be helpful to get the staff attention, as they’re not regularly on second floor. D) a nomination/voting list for patrons to add/cast votes for a desired game missing from the collection. E) a game master who can offer recommendations, teach a new game, play if requested would be a really nice touch.
With that said, this cafe is offering a good selection of games, great staff, and good food that propels it beyond its competitor. Even the WhatsApp contact has been very responsive and helpful, with their list of games available readily accessible in the business menu. Those few tweaks above would make this place a 5 star for me.
Thank you for what you offer Level Up, doing...

I love this place. My wife and I go on Sundays when they have their afternoon board game get together there. So much fun and the people are all nice, the baristas/workers, the owner, and the other customers. Such a nice place. The other board game cafe in Bali has such a bad atmosphere when you go and their owner is kind of a jerk. However, the owner of Level Up goes out of his way to make his customers happy and ensure they have a wonderful time. The food is great, too.
Yes, they are a little pricy, but that is to be expected when they only serve vegan food. I'm not a vegan, but the stuff they make here is just awesome and I can't tell the difference in the case of the wonderful garlic bread. Seriously, I will go out of my way to get it here. I order garlic bread from any place we eat and it almost always disappoints. Sometimes it's okay, but Level Up has the gold standard when it comes to garlic bread. Yes, it's that good. My wife is overly fond of the red velvet latte here. Made with soy milk (since everything here is vegan) and the new way they make it isn't as sweet as it used to be and honestly it's really nice the new way. Conversely, the red velvet cuppycakes they make are very sweet, but it's truly the way I like them, and it's among my favorites for dessert here in Bali. (Sorry, Jess, but I think Gusto still wins for best dessert in Bali, but you're a close second!) The frosting on it is pretty amazing, even if it's not quite the cream cheese frosting I'm used to for red velvet desserts. However, it fits with how they make it and it's a delight.
They also do game rentals as well, which is nice during the pandemic lock down right now. I look forward to when they are allowing dine in again so that we can go play board games with the nice people there.
Oh and be sure to ask for the game session / coffee reward cards. Gotta love the stamp cards for free stuff if you go there...
Read moreI only tried the board game experience. The Cafe is quite small but is very cozy. There are a few, but curated, selection of board games available to play. The play area is on the 2nd floor and quite private.
I saw people play Rummikub, Isle of Cats, Ticket to Ride, and Pandemic with their friends and significant other while enjoying coffee.
I myself came alone and have to try the solo games like Chronicles of Crime and Unlock! Adventures.
It's a shame that they don't have a game master on standby to teach us the rules of the board games. You have to learn on your own or play the games you already know how to play. I guess the place focus more being a cafe than a board game play area.
One thing to note is that it closes at 7pm. That's very early! I thought I have more time to play but it's closing time already.
You can also buy a few board games they sell at the 1st floor, they sell various categories of board games and even playing cards.
I enjoyed my time here, but overall I advise you to bring someone with you when...
