Me and my partner ate at this restaurant on the 17th of March. The restaurant is located on a little tucked away road, decently quiet. We contacted the restaurant prior to arrival for a booking. We were able to sit outside and the area was very nice and clean, outside huts nicely themed in temple style. The staff were wonderful and the owner remembered us booking and welcomed us by name. There was no issue with service or location. However, there was only 2 gentleman sitting outside having a beer and only one family sitting inside the restaurant. The reviews of this location mostly were good, we decided due to the reviews we would have faith in the quality of the food (my partner was worried about how quite the restaurant was, I really wish I listened to her). I was craving fish and chips, just like what we can get back in Australia. My partner ordered the surf n turf. When I received my fish the fish looked like it was straight out of a frozen packet, my partners surf and turf… didn’t look appealing. The taste of the food was very average, but this was only the start of a shocking experience. Roughly 6 hours later I woke up at 4am with an awful nausea and felt desperate to vomit. I ran to the bathroom and it was the beginning of a very traumatic experience. This woke up my partner who desperately needed the toilet to do diarrhoea. This was the first time we were experimental with our food, the other times we ate in Bali we stuck to 2 locations, both 4.7+ star resort restaurants, both immaculate reputations (peppers Seminyak, kayumas seminyak). We are confident that this restaurant caused our Bali belly. This occasion was on Sunday, we suffered until Wednesday (the day we flew out) - thankfully we took a significant amount of anti nausea and gastrostop medication to survive the flight.
While we are confident this restaurant caused this experience, we cannot prove anything. Be cautious is our recommendation. This has been a story of what we had to go through for the rest of...
Read moreSecluded location, although it's not far from our Airbnb but the journey took 30mins because of the traffic in that area. Road block due to the temple ceremony, driver had to detour twice and roads were pretty narrow, hence a lot of congestion.
All the staff were v friendly and polite, they welcomed us warmly and always tried to offer their help/checking in if we needed any help.
We specifically came here to try their seafood since it has a lot of positive reviews but was kinda disappointed with the seafood choices on the menu. It is really limited. Squid, prawns, mahi-mahi, lobsters, tuna, clams and red/white snappers and that's all the seafood they offer.
We had:
seafood platter in Balinese style (sauce was good, prawns were fresh, I liked the mahi-mahi but not my hubs; he said it wasn't fresh enough. The clams were too small to get a better texture)
grilled king prawn in garlic butter sauce (nice flavour but prawns could be fresher)
grilled squid in salt lemon sauce (fresh enough)
tom yum goong (not spicy/sour enough for me. It had prawns and mushroom in it - not recommended to order)
kendi kuning seafood pizza (tomato sauce based was properly made in-house, didn't taste like it was from canned tomato puree. Dough was thin and rather soft. Nice flavour actually, with generous amount of seafood toppings)
Total damage was 640k+ for two pax, paid using cc since we didn't have enough cash to pay. 3% surcharge on total bill if paying by cc.
Would I come back here again...? I don't think so but the staff there were...
Read moreThe Bali owner is an tool and his wife who is the old lady obviously has lived in Bali too long they have horrible service and it’s definitely not Asian it is the worst of Australia. Their beer price is advertised outside at one price and sold for another. The place is full of Mosquitoes in the table we sat at was filthy with prior guests food in the table. I have no idea how they got any score being as disgustingly dirty as it is. There was some local people ceremony going on at the place they asked me to park somewhere else. I did. Then they asked me to changed and asked me to park somewhere else and then they changed it again a 3rd time and asked me to park somewhere else that’s three times in less than 30 minutes. They clearly have no customer service ideals. I ordered my check and paid the bill. I told them that they earned a zero star. To which the big mail Balinese Owner grabbed my shirt and said we don’t need you people in Bali we just want your money so get out. Absolutely the worst place I have ever been In Bali. If Bali is like this there is no future. If they want to have their religious ceremony close the restaurant don’t try to take money and provide horrible service. Absolutely disgusted with the way they treat people. This is the worst score I...
