Jiang Nan - Chinese Eatery 江南小馆 — Restaurant in Lombok

As a Chinese foodie born and raised in China, I can say with confidence that Jiangnan is the best and most authentic Chinese restaurant in Lombok and the Bali area. I haven’t been to Jakarta, but my Chinese friend who lives in Jakarta also said this is better than every Chinese restaurant there.

I am so happy that I found this place that cured my intense cravings for Chinese food after traveling in SEA for 4 months. I was in Lombok for 6 nights, and I came here 4 days in a row, because it is THAT good! After trying almost everything on the menu, below are my favorites:

Beef Noodle Soup (this dish has the most authentic Chinese taste with handmade noodles, perfectly flavored beef and soup to die for) Wontons in Chili Oil (The chili oil is so authentic and fragrant and not really spicy, just like how it’s supposed to be. I wanted to take it home and dip EVERYTHING in it!) Stir-fried beans (this tastes very authentic and clean at the same time) Shredded potatoes (again very authentic and light)

The dumplings and the Chinese tea here are also very very nice.

Most of the dishes here are light and not really spicy, and they will change your opinions about Chinese food if you think it’s cheap, greasy and heavy. In Jiangnan, you will only find Chinese food that is delicate, colorful, flavorful, and diverse.

The service here is also spectacular. All staff look very energetic and happy at work, and I think that has to do with the great management from the owner. The owner, who was also born and raised in China, really knows Chinese food and insists on delivering the most authentic tastes by importing many of the ingredients from China. I am very grateful that there are people like her spreading the awareness for real Chinese food around the world.

Amazing Chinese restaurant but DO NOT GO HERE ON WEDNESDAYS!

So to explain, we went here on a Tuesday evening and everything was amazing, the restaurant is beautiful, the service is very friendly and the food came within 10 minutes. Speaking about the food, all dishes we had were delicious and of amazing quality. Definitely try out the spicy beef pieces, the passion fruit ice tea and their lava chocolate Bao.

Now we saw on Tuesday that Wednesday is dim sum day, all dim sum dishes are only 30K. This seems like a great deal so we went there again on Wednesday because we had such a great time the previous day.

Now this is the problem, the deal is so popular that the entire restaurant is packed and because of this the food takes so long to come. After ordering it took 2 hours until we finally got our last dish, which is a complete flip from the day before. This was kind of a sad experience as the day before it was all going so well, they did give us a discount on our bill which did show regret from their side.

Our last visit to this restaurant was merely five days ago, and tonight, we find ourselves returning here to conclude our Lombok journey before heading back to our home country. I must admit, I was genuinely impressed even a little surprised that Abas still recognized and remembered our names. He truly is an exceptionally cordial waiter and possesses a remarkable knack for making us feel incredibly comfortable here. Although this restaurant is quite modest and certainly lacks the extravagance of a high-end establishment, the level of service is outstanding. In fact, the service delivered by Abas surpassed the standard of numerous five-star luxury restaurants I had the opportunity to visit throughout Lombok. I may seem overly focused on praising the service without giving due comment to the cuisine itself, but please understand, my primary motivation for frequenting various restaurants is often not merely to indulge in exquisite food.
