[25/05/2025] My international friend and I came to Munchies around 7 PM after struggling to find a place that suited both our tastes, most restaurants were fully packed that night so we chose Munchies as our last option. We were warmly greeted by the front liner and shown to a table. I have to admit, the interior is beautifully designed with classic touch, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for guests with visual problems, as the lighting wasn’t just dim and ambient, but rather too dark. A small table lamp or more guest-friendly lighting would be a thoughtful improvement, especially for reading the menu comfortably. The food menu was varied and tasty, with a wait time of around 10–15 minutes, which is pretty reasonable.
Unfortunately, what stood out to me the most and not in a good way was the inappropriate hospitality behavior I experienced. When it was time to pay, two female waiters took turns assisting my foreign friend with the bill and interacting at the table. Throughout this, they didn’t once acknowledge me with no eye contact, no small talk, no basic courtesy. I understand not every guest needs to be asked about their meal, especially in large groups. But in our case, it was just the two of us. I couldn’t help but feel ignored and, frankly, disrespected, as if I was invisible simply for being a local tourist. That felt discriminatory and upsetting.
Thankfully, a male staff member who was also the front liner, informed me of the names of the two waitresses involved. Riana and Laila, whose behavior I sincerely hope is reviewed and improved moving forward. I will remember those names.
For local tourists, I’d suggest being mindful if you happen to encounter a waitress with a tied-up hairstyle and another with a short bob cut (just in case). And to the management team reading this, please consider evaluating this matter seriously. Also, I would encourage you to recognize and reward the male staff member on duty that evening which I regret not getting his name, but I truly appreciate how he helped calm...

Read moreunfortunately they maybe never had to deal with 2 hangry, tired, cranky german girls before. we came in for a quick lunch which turned into a 2 hour ordeal. while the food itself was pretty good, the service was unfortunately non-existent. the ordering was already complicated (although we each only had one sandwich and a drink), then we waited an hour for the first plate to arrive. when my friend was already finished with her food for 10 minutes or so i asked when i could expect mine. the waiter came back with the news that the kitchen would start making it now. we also ordered something else that apparently never made it to the kitchen (and was then out of stock). the table next to us had the same issue and the restaurant was only half full, so we really wonder what it's like during busy hours. some of the staff had 'trainee' tags on their shirts and while i'm all for learning in the field, the restaurant was OBVIOUSLY not running in any shape or form. even though they gave me a free slice of banana bread for the wait (maybe they saw me snacking cookies we brought from outside?) they will definitely never see...
