Let me call this Poor Agedashi Tofu: three pieces of super thin flour-coated fried tofu in a overly sweet tzuyu sauce (slightly savory, mostly sweet and salty, I don't know why but it does taste like kecap manis water with salt). The Agedashi Tofu I know using big cube of tofu coated with potato starch and deep fried, with savory tzuyu sauce and generous sprinkle of katshuobushi. The Ebi Tempura Ramen (curry): the broth is okay, but I expect more curry-ish broth. The hard boiled egg is overcooked, i could see the blue ring in the yolk and the texture is already rubbery. The Ebi Tempura is 1 medium shrimp in a very big long crispy tempura batter, so the shrimp is only half of the tempura long. The tempura is served in the bowl of ramen, so it will mushy. Hope Ichiban will serve tempura in another plate to make it stay crisp. Tempura Karaage Rice: the white rice is lukewarm, the sweet potato tempura is cold and mushy, the Ebi Tempura is just mostly crisp flour with one little shrimp in it. The sushi platter is overall good, with a sharp wasabi as condiment.
The orange juice is like nutrisari with ice. The iced lemon tea is like a sachet powder drink with lemon tea flavour, there is no single slice of real lemon in it.
Conclusion: the best thing abt this place is the sushi, forget the others. It's cheap but not that cheap, and honestly in Malang with this price you can get a much better ramen, much better ebi Tempura & much...
Read moreservice: bad, slow, seemed overwhelmed, waited in front for a few minutes then had to seat ourselves, staff just stared at us. when we sat down they only gave us 1 menu for the 4 of us. during our meal we had to ask for everything, napkins, wasabi etc.. gave us 1 less plate and utensils dining area was clean. the only good part of the dinner. food was not good. we ordered tempura, happy party sushi plate, and bentos. happy party supposed to be for 4 but the carafe of orange juice didn't fill 4 cups so ordered another carafe. the veggies of the tempura was hot but the ebi was still cold on the inside so i assume they were frozen. then there was a big fly in the tempura dip. i called the waiter and he just took it back. no apologies or anything... bentos were just average. very disapppointed. my dad complained all the way home. we had a choice to eat here or sushi tei but chose ichiban because it was cheaper. BIG MISTAKE...
Read moreThis is my first time for me to visit Ichiban Sushi Store in Malang. I've been to the same brand but in Surabaya. These are some points that you might need to know:
Ichiban Sushi is located in the 3rd floor of Mall Olympic Garden (MOG) Malang. The sign is esily recognized by our eyes. It is in a red color. You can eat there or choose take away service. You can see the menu before the entrance before deciding to eat there. After you decide to choose, you can enter and sit or ask the worker to write your take away choices. About the payment, they receive payment from BCA EDC machine, e-wallet like DANA and GOPAY, and others may be. That's what I could see from my visit. The workers are so friendly and they will say "arigato" after finishing their service. Here you may find many Japanese cuisine easily with not really affordable price but worth the price. About the taste, it is a...
