Today we went to 'Papa Tarros' for the first time. The venue looks appealing and cosy. Even though it was in the afternoon that we went there for lunch, almost al the tables were occupied, it gave the place a nice atmosphere. We had delicious food to try, the spring rolls are the best we tasted anywhere, the salads are fresher than fresh and are very tasty because of the herbs and optional dressing that go with them. The 12 hour Pho was yummy too, a bit spicy for a westerner, but I liked it, it gave a light tingling sensation in the mouth and was full of flavour!! The portions of all our plates were very generous and looked very appeticing. Later in the evening we returned for a dessert and cocktails. The desserts are suberb, especially the Pandan leave dessert and the fried ice cream my dad had was enormous and tasted good too!! The cocktails are mediocre, but they are freshly made and definitely made with love. All in all, we would definitely recommend this restaurant, it's a keeper!! Thank you for the delicious meals and for the nice and...
Read moreStaying in this area 3 days now. Went tonight after walking past 2 last nights and zero customers, I told myself this is probably due to herd mentality but I seem to be wrong. Worst price value meal I've had so far. Reasons
Restaurant was out of dish I ordered (I understand it happens), but took 20m to inform us (after ordering), then seemed like they only started to cook after that (see 2). Customers entering after us served fully 15m before us (starters + mains) Took one hour to get served, was a bit busy but as I said others arriving after came first Prices different on billboard outside compared to menu for our dishes Ordered green curry with chicken, chicken was about 2 spoons worth and cost 60k Told the server while paying bill about reasons 1-4, didn't do anything about it
Good things: best price for big Bintang in the area so far, if you want to drink without eating...
Read moreVery below average food here. Not sure why people seem to enjoy this place. The Thai food is not the traditional Thai food you will expect at all! We got the pad thai, pork basil and spring rolls and the only thing that was decent was the spring rolls. The pad Thai was bland with minimal pieces of prawns... The pork basil was also mediocre, the pork was very dry and chewy, makes me question if the meat was frozen? The service here was good but personally, I thought the waiter was being smiley and nice only for business. Not genuine at all. By the end of our meal, he asked us to make sure to give them a good review but unfortunately I am unable to give them one... There are other great restaurants for the same price nearby, so I would recommend going...
