Cafe Pandan — Restaurant in Nusa Penida Subdistrict

Disappointing experience despite the beautiful location

On my way to Dream Beach, I stopped by this place to check out the pool and the view to see if it was worth it due the google reviews. Unfortunately, my first impression was not great. A couple in front of me, probably just as curious, was approached by a staff member who started raising his voice, saying it was a private area reserved for guests only. I didn’t even get the chance to explain my intentions because he quickly kicked us out of the pool area.

I had even politely asked him if there were any other stairs to get down to the beach, as the waves were pretty strong and I felt a bit uneasy, but he didn’t seem interested in helping, even if you can get to the beach from the stairs of the sunbed area.

On my way back from the beach, I noticed a sign at the restaurant stating that for 50k you could stay at the pool and get a towel. So, I paid the fee.

As for the food, it wasn’t anything special, the prices were quite high, and I had to pick up my bowl myself from the restaurant table and eat at the sunbed because the entire staff was gathered at the cashier, talking too loudly and making a lot of noise.

It’s a shame about this place—it has great potential, but they should really focus more on...

Awesome find , cool views in fairness food was really good in a relaxed atmosphere . Really cool spot .

Fresh Juices are moderately priced about 30k but great value considering the view all prices include government tax and service charge .

They have an upstairs too and we got front seat views .

Bintang was 40k including charges but the meal was great 105k for a chicken and rice with salad .

They charge more for a coke than a fresh juice !?????????? I notice a lot of establishments cashing in on the high price for coke . They are aware that western families fill their kids with sugary drinks and junk food so not family friendly for western families if they are overcharging for a Coca Cola .

Food and fresh juices are pretty good here . Just don't order the orange juice it's from a carton but the pineapple and watermelon are fresh...

I stumbled upon Cafe Pandan unintentionally while visiting Dream Beach in Nusa Penida, as the restaurant is located right above the cliff overlooking the beach. Since it was dinner time, we decided to give it a try.

The staff were polite, though a little less attentive than expected. Portions were big, and the overall taste of the food was acceptable. We had the BBQ pork ribs, which were good, while the BBQ prawns were a bit disappointing – the prawns were overcooked and dry, though I must say the portion size was generous for the price.

One thing to note is that the prices shown on the menu are inclusive of 21% tax, so it’s better to double-check before making payment.

The real highlight of this place is definitely the view and the environment. Watching the sunset here was beautiful, and for that, I’d give it five stars. A great spot for dinner if you want to enjoy the scenery above...
