Review for Wikandar Grill Lembongan

Given the numerous outstanding reviews but also some very negative ones, we were initially unsure whether to dine here or not. Ultimately, we decided to give it a try and did not regret our decision. While it's not as perfect as some reviews might suggest, it was a solid, average experience overall.

The price-performance ratio was reasonable in our view; we paid a bit over 300k IDR, including drinks. We ordered the grilled Mahi filet and the Indonesian grilled fish, along with onion rings. Both fish dishes were well-grilled and came with rice and steamed vegetables, although the vegetables were a bit too firm for our taste. The onion rings were delicious and nicely crispy.

The staff was really nice and attentive, and we were served quickly. There are plenty of seating options, and the atmosphere is quite comfortable. However, the music from the TV over the bar was a bit loud, which was slightly distracting.

We went here based on the good reviews and the number of people at the restaurant, but wow, were we ever disappointed.

Where to start.. First of, we were sat a table under a roofing that made it uncomfortably hot. The fans were already there, but still in the box. Luckily we got moved to another table when we asked to move.

Then the food: we ordered a steak and the BBQ ribs. The ribs were supposed to be slow cooked but were very tough. The fries were undercooked and the ‘vegetables’ consisted of two green beans and a slice of carrot. The steak was supposed to be medium-rare but was very raw. After pointing this out, the steak was cooked again and came back rare. In addition, after our first round of drinks, they had no more cold drinks so we got lukewarm Sprites.

Lastly, minor complaint: the internet connection had trouble with playing the music so every 10 seconds you would get a couple of seconds of pause due to the music video buffering.

It was by far the worst restaurant experience we have had in Bali and the Nusa’s. Would not recommend it, I also don’t know how the reviews are so great. Maybe we were...
