We stayed here at the beginning of November and wish we hadn't. We walked in off the street, asked to see the rooms which were basic but looked interesting. ||Boiling day and the air con was on in the room, located right on the beach in town center of Lovinia and a decent bar to sit in for a drink and maybe dinner. |We paid nearly 500,000ruph for a night. Agreed and welcome drink provided... Then it went awfully downhill.|We were clearly the only ones staying there and about 5 staff around.. So you would naturally think in quiet season you would be taken care of.. Nope|Not only did we not get hot water we had no water. We had to ask 3 times on the evening to have the water turned on, of course after fixing it the first time and apologizing they asked for payment, which we did. Went out for a walk and wanted a shower before bed... No water.. Back to the bar where met with attitude of what hassle we were. Water fancy enough came on quite quickly.|Just before bed we found a few massive cockroaches and the toilet area swarming with mosquitos so door has to be closed at all times and time in bathroom kept to minimum. This I can accept considering where we were located and it being a wooden cottage.|Next morning after an okay sleep we went to brush our teeth and shower.. Guess what? No water.. Back to the bar only to be told the guy who can fix it isn't at work yet so will need to wait.. Fine|Off to breakfast we went, ordered. Waited about 15-20 min to be told by a staff member that because no water they can't make our breakfast or make us coffee.. Great.|So off we went into town to pay for breakfast over and above what we had paid at the hotel to have it included.|Came back to have a shower... You can only guess, no water. That's when I'd had enough of being understanding. 5 staff sitting around the bar doing absolutely nothing. Couldn't have a swim cause they couldn't be bothered to clear the pool of leaves and branches.|Went and spoke to the guy and said I wanted water as a basic commodity of staying in a hotel and that I needed to leave, fancy enough 2 min later we had water. Expressed my utter dissatisfaction with our stay to which I got a smirk and a mumble of apology.|Working in the industry I totally accept things go wrong, sometimes too busy to get everything done... I get that. But when there is no guests and so many staff, all with poor, non interested attitudes I can't help but feel frustrated. Fine if you want to save water but not when you having paying guests in your hotel and don't tell me it's broken when you clearly flick a switch when asked for water. |Disappointing in a town which is clearly struggling to attract tourists at this time of year.|This has to be one of the worst experiences I've had anywhere for years|I don't care about the money but I wouldn't of paid 50,000ruph to stay here.||You've...

Read moreWe stayed one night at the Sea Breeze Cottages in particular cottage no 3. We were woken almost every hour by a weird sound of a bird?? Not really sure what it was, it was the weirdest sound we ever encountered right on the top of the bed. We thought may be it is a an alarm clock with a weird sound. If we had to stay another night I would have made sure that spend another almost sleepless night. The next day I asked the staff whether there is a hidden clock in the room, they replied in the negative. The location of the cottages is great, right on the beach, entertainment a night is excellent, the musicians are great and the music wonderful. However, the amenities are terrible, yes, I mean terrible. The bathroom is from the 1900's era, never upgraded, the toilet when flushed takes ages to refill and sometimes doesn't. My husband said that had he seen the bathroom before booking, he would never have stayed there but we needed a place to crash in. The weird noise kept up awake and when reported to the staff he next day they did not seem concerned. Despite of the lack of sleep and the terrible bathroom, we found the staff nice and polite and the location good. Some renovations to the place are certainly needed as it is a...
