A Regrettable Experience with the Owner On Wednesday 7.5.2025, between 9-10 pm, we had the most regrettable experience in Tanda Pizza Lovina. I had called beforehand to say i was on the way to the restaurant and was advised to make the order on the phone before the kitchen closes at 9.30 pm. Dwi who took my call sent me the menu. When i told Dwi that we have a Muslim in our party of 3 pax, Dwi sent a list of items that were pork-free. Finally, after reviewing the menu, i decided to order... - Napoletana Pizza - Mushroom Soup - Tagliatelle Al Ragu (pasta) - Tiramisu Upon arrival at the restaurant, Dwi came over and reconfirmed the order, i asked if the Napoletana Pizza had meat in it, he said that the Napoletana had no meat, only anchovies. (Nothing was mentioned about how salty it would be) When the food was served, we all took a piece of the Napoletana Pizza and found it to be very salty indeed. We pointed it out to Dwi and his response was that the Napoletana had anchovies in it and it is naturally salty because of the anchovies. I asked if it can be replaced as the pizza was inedible. Dwi said he needs to check with the owner. The owner David who was sitting in a glass room with another customer came over in a huff to see me. I calmly explained to David that we may have made a mistake by ordering Napoletana Pizza as we did not know it would be so salty. David's response was this...."since it's your mistake and not our mistake, so it is not my problem, it's yours!" He left my table as rudely as he came over. He walked back to his room, slammed a door behind him and started talking loudly about us to his friend, then walked into the kitchen and spoke loudly to his staff in the kitchen. By this time, for us, it was no more about the salty pizza, but by the way we were told off by the rude owner, doors slamming, loud shouting! We left the restaurant half way through the meal....a half-eaten pizza, 1 bowl of unfinished mushroom soup, half-eaten pasta, a full pot of tea untouched and a glass of hot milk untouched, and we took the pre-ordered dessert back in a bag! It was just too hard to continue sitting in this restaurant after having been brushed off so rudely by the owner! David, 1) Yes we all know that anchovies are salty but not to the extent where it is inedible. 2) I admitted i made a mistake to ordering a pizza which had a salty slant, but I was not admitting to making a mistake ordering a pizza which was inedible! 3) Your response was insensitive, insulting and in bad taste. This is not how a responsible restaurant should treat a customer who needed help to resolve a genuine issue. 4) You should think about how you engage with your customers differently - at your level, it should have been handled more tactfully - it should not have been about who's fault it is, rather it should be about about determining if there is a genuine issue and take it from there, but unfortunately you were only focused on pinning the blame on your customer so that you do not have to apologise or make amends! You came out with "all guns blazing" and rudely addressing the issue and making a scene for all to see! What a sorry example of customer management and leadership from a seasoned entrepreneur! We were having the best time in Bali during our 6 day tour of Bali until you blatantly insulted me and my party. Thank you.

We visited based on the reviews. We shared the grilled vegetables as a starter, a seafood pizza, and had a tiramisu for takeaway. The grilled vegetables were very flavourful and well dressed; however, the portion was tiny for 60RP and not a good value for money. The pizza had an excellent puffy crust but one side was quite burned. The wood flavour came though nicely and it was crisp not soggy even in the middle. We felt the toppings could be a bit more generous compared with others we've had and the price was also high compared to other seafood pizzas in similarly nice Italian restaurants on the island. They did provide an excellent chili oil at table. The tiramisu was good especially given that it used the proper ingredients which are difficult to source. Service was excellent and the view gave a peak of the hills from the air conditioned dining area. Overall a good but not great experience because of the value to cost ratio. At 470RP, this was the most expensive meal we have had on the island; especially considering we shared the portions of one person/diner. ..this makes it a very expensive place to eat per person. I would only recommend if you are in the area and must have an Italian fix and are willing to pay the price.

One of the Best Italian Restaurants in Bali – Truly Memorable Experience Tanda Pizza is the kind of place that stays with you long after your trip ends. If you’re craving authentic Italian food in Bali, this is the spot to visit. I tried the Quattro Formaggi pizza and it was absolutely phenomenal 🥹 — rich, cheesy, perfectly balanced, and baked to perfection. It might just be the best pizza I’ve ever had. The tiramisu was also amazing — light, creamy, with just the right hint of coffee and sweetness. Everything was made with so much care. What makes this place even more special is the warm hospitality. The owner is incredibly kind and genuinely makes sure every guest feels welcome — he even came over to ask how we were enjoying the food, which felt really thoughtful. As locals, we really appreciated that, especially since most of the customers are foreign tourists. The service was excellent — the waiters were friendly, attentive, and happy to help with anything we needed. Would 100% come back again. Delicious food, cozy vibes, and heartfelt service — Tanda Pizza is a gem you don’t want to miss in Bali.

A Regrettable Experience with the Owner

On Wednesday 7.5.2025, between 9-10 pm, we had the most regrettable experience in Tanda Pizza Lovina.

Napoletana Pizza Mushroom Soup Tagliatelle Al Ragu (pasta) Tiramisu

Upon arrival at the restaurant, Dwi came over and reconfirmed the order, i asked if the Napoletana Pizza had meat in it, he said that the Napoletana had no meat, only anchovies. (Nothing was mentioned about how salty it would be)

When the food was served, we all took a piece of the Napoletana Pizza and found it to be very salty indeed.

David,

  1. Yes we all know that anchovies are salty but not to the extent where it is inedible.

  2. I admitted i made a mistake to ordering a pizza which had a salty slant, but I was not admitting to making a mistake ordering a pizza which was inedible!

  3. Your response was insensitive, insulting and in bad taste. This is not how a responsible restaurant should treat a customer who needed help to resolve a genuine issue.

I arrived here because their was heavy rain. I wanted originally only to wait till rain stops but I thought I’m hungry okay why not eat here it looks very nice. What I’m pretty sure the Italian owner was at the entry. The staff was so nice and I thought the owner also looked nice. I felt judge since the moment he started speaking to me but I thought maybe this would pass. If he had taken the time to speak with me he would’ve know I worked 10 years in the restaurant/hôtellerie industry and in Italian restaurants as well. I asked for recommendations of 4 very different types of pizza and very different prices… people who’ve worked in the business know that a good service demands the waiter to ask a bit of question on the customer and to get to know them a little bit …he proposed to me the 2 most expensive and I thought ok well maybe they are the best. What I ordered was far from what I had in mind and I ate because I was hungry… and it was ok just not my type of pizza way too salty and not really spicy…The owner didn’t took one second to really explain to me what I was ordering he went to spend the time with a couple just focusing on selling limoncello and tiramisu …. had he known that it’s not about the money that maybe if I would’ve gotten the least expensive I would have come back many times… I felt judge as a single woman and because I was not a couple who could spend lots of money …I was also maybe not looking my best since I got caught up in the rain… this is a very deep feeling I got of being judge that I wasn’t gonna be the client that would spend so much money … such a shame because he clearly doesn’t know that I would if I had gotten a good service… I am sure the food is good, I ate but honestly was not satisfied at all and I should have gone with what I would have ordered if I had not asked for recommendation from the owner… I feel very disappointed because the staff is so welcoming and the food looks good but I don’t really know …and just for that very very bad customer service from the owner I will...
