Kedai Gula Jawa — Restaurant in Semarang

I feel so sorry to have write this kind of review. But, the experience I had tonight is way too bad for me and my family.

I came to Gula Jawa (August 13th) to celebrate my brother's bday, thinking that my last experience coming here was a good one.

The moment we went through the door, the resto was packed and we were told that there were waiting list. At my random sight, I saw a table being marked with reservation and I feel its not fair since I've contacted their WA and they won't receive any reservation on the weekend. I confronted the staff and they said it was someone who came first 😓. The way the staff explaining wasn't very welcoming and Its actually giving me a bad vibe. Thank God, the queue wasnt long and we were given seat after 10 mins or so.

After ordering, the food started coming and we didnt wait for too long which is a good sign. But hey the quality of the foods werent very good. The cheese chicken snitzel I ordered came very dry and feel so coarse.There were worse problem, the tenderloin steak came and my uncle said it was salty. He complained and the staff took it back to the kitchen. We actually tought they were gonna make a new one and replace the unplateable with a better one. BUT they didnt! The staff came back and said the chef said they made the steak AS USUAL and they put the SAME PLATE back. IT IS SO RUDE!!! how did they handled this problem is so unprofessional!

How can I face them? We invited him and it is such an EMBARAZING way for me and my family!

I feel they have a bad management here, I dont know whether it is bcoz they were packed or just simply their attitude and bad system. Some staffs keep going to our table and giving the wrong food. I think they marked the table wrongly?

One more, my bro ordered vietnam drip coffee. Not long after the staff put em on the table, the coffee start overflowing. We called the staff and once more they cant stop amaze us with their services. The first thing the staff did wasn't helping us! He said oh its because there were air inside the drip so they overflow 😮‍💨. Can u believe? Hello? They didnt even giving us tissue or wipe the table! I need to ASK for tissue!!! And I wipe the table MYSELF!

After all those bad things, I WONT RECOMMEND this place. Ever.

The right place to unwind after working with friends, the place is comfortable, pampers smokers and there are electric plugs available, parking can only accommodate 2 cars, the rest are parallel parked on the shoulder of the road. You can choose to sit in an air-conditioned room or outside with a fan. The service is good, fast, communicative. There are pretty clean toilets available. Food is average, taste is average. The sauce for Western food lacks body, needs to be improved. Drinks are ordinary, all juice-based drinks lack body, too watery for fruit-based juice drinks, need to improve the standardization of sweetness. All cold drinks taste very sweet, maybe deliberately to make it last longer while sitting, it is recommended to ask for more ice cubes to reduce the excessive sweetness. The price is not too expensive for the size...

The dine in area itself is great place to hangout. But make sure you don't choose the couch as eating spot because it would not be too convenient to eat with lower table than your knees. As for the Mixed grill, nasi empal, mojito and lychee tea, they all great. Foe the onion rings though, i found it a bit too salty than other places i've ever been. An advantage for me since i love savoury foods but still, the salt took over the onion taste themselves. The crews or waiters and cashier are nice, they are polite, friendly, quick in service. Just an advice, a crowd of waiter infront of customer sitting and being starred was a liiiitle bit awkward. But overal, i...
