The service is great, and cakes are excellent as always. Unfortunately everything else is just fair.
One thing that annoy me the most is the single-use(?) paper tablecloth. It's not nice to touch, doesn't looks good, and it's not even properly sized for the table. Based on the pricing and service, it should at least be a Middle-end place, and using those kind of tablecloth is just no no. If you're insisted of using that kind of tablecloth to make cleaning and preparation for the next customer faster, at least use a more bespoke one. Something that's nicer to touch since it's the surface that we touch all the time, looks better instead of just plain white paper, and properly sized so it will be seamless on bigger table & don't have so much material folded on the edge on the smaller table.
Afterall it's something new for Surabaya, and I'm pretty sure that there will be a next time. Maybe I could choose something on the menu that satisfy me better next time, and maybe I could start getting used to that annoying tablecloth. Or maybe I should just simply sticks with the cakes. So let's see ...
PS. Some people are complaining about the service, but they treat me pretty well when I was there. Everyone work fast, helpful, and the most important is that they're very polite. Even though I'm only wearing simple T-Shirt, golf shorts,...
Read moreFirst i have my own doubt bout this place. Based on what's already happen in surabaya, jakarta based not really working in here.
But they really suprise me. Let's talk bout the size, quite big for the starter [but i think u need season your escargot more evenly, some part still bland]
For the main course. I choosed porkbelly with fennel crusted on it. That's just spot on. Texture wise, the chewy from fat still there but not hard like eating sandal, crisp so well, and the mixed with honey mustard well balanced with the greasy umami with well seasoned. And again it's so fulfilling for me in size wise. I deff come back for this
Please maintain your food quality and your fine service. One clear point, how's fine your service was, you excat timing to served out my meal, and still hot not luke warm or cold dish. Honestly quite rare to see a perfect timing and i can requst when the main dish would come to my table.
For the tap beer. I can't enjoy the ioi citrusly bitter after taste. But still refreshing taste. I hope u will provide tap beer from singaraja brand which has more clear and light taste, esp for...
Read moreFine dining at Union felt less like a meal and more like a rendezvous with desire. The dessert display alone was a seduction cakes lined up like suitors, each promising to melt me in ways words never could. I gave in, of course, and not once did the disappoint.
The escargot went undocumented, not because it wasn't memorable, but because sometimes pleasure is best experienced off-camera. The foie gras? Decadent, indulgent, unapologetically rich like the kind of love affair you know won't last forever, but you dive in anyway.
And then there was the Es Kopi Lokal smooth, bold, and exactly the kind of comfort I keep going back to. Maybe that's the thing about relationships, too. We chase after the luxurious, the elusive, the ones that dazzle us... but sometimes, it's the simple, familiar sip that keeps us steady.
Even the table covers invited me to draw with crayons, as if reminding me: while I'm still sketching out what love should look like, it's okay to play, to laugh, and to savor. After all, I'm still searching for that relationship as reliable as cake and as daring...
