Le Bistro — Restaurant in West Nusa Tenggara

We went here our first night in Gili Air. Recommended by our hotel but it was not a good experience I have a gluten allergy and, upon viewing the menu, I asked the waiter (who discussed with the chef) if the Mahi Mahi steak was available gluten free. I was assured that it was and that I could choose my side dishes between fries and crispy potatoes. The waiter enthusiastically recommended the crispy potatoes, which I then ordered. We waited over 40mins for the food, however the restaurant was not busy and those that arrived after us receive their food before us. When my plate arrived, the crispy potatoes seemed to be coated in breadcrumbs and therefore would NOT be gluten free. I tried to ask to the waiter again but he didn’t seem to understand, so eventually another waiter came over to confirm that yes the potatoes were NOT gluten free. :( They did bring out some fries immediately, however I was unable to eat half of the food due to the breadcrumbs. My boyfriends burger was not nice at all, and he left half due to the poor quality of the burger patty. In the end we left quickly, disappointed and hungry. Definitely NOT recommended for anyone with allergies as they cannot be catered...

Food could have been nice if it would have been at least warm. Both mains were served cold. Got different ice creams than ordered. Last but not least, sold us the happy hour as ”buy 2 get 1 free”, when it came to payment, only the 3rd drink was free. But even cocktail number 4 was different than ordered. Every course had an issue and we left quite frustrated after an argument with the waiters. There wasn't even an offer to compensate the mistakes. Not worth...

Staff and decor were nice, and prices were above average for the area (80-130k for mains) so we had good expectations. The food presented to us looked good but unfortunately was bland and completely lacking in taste. My wife ordered a tuna and shrimp platter and the food arrived cold.
