From the moment we stepped into this enchanting Italian pizza restaurant, nestled on the edge of the island, it was clear we were in for an extraordinary experience. The owner, a charismatic Italian who has poured his heart and soul into this establishment, greeted us with the warmth and hospitality that only true Italians can offer. His passion for authentic Italian cuisine and his love for the island shines through every aspect of the restaurant.
The staff, ever so friendly and attentive, made us feel like family. Their recommendations from the menu were spot on, guiding us through a culinary journey that tantalized our taste buds and warmed our hearts. Each dish, from the appetizers to the heavenly pizzas, was crafted to perfection, embodying the true essence of Italian flavors. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were bold, and the pizza – oh, the pizza – was a masterpiece of crispy, wood-fired crust, tangy tomato sauce, and melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella.
But what truly sets this restaurant apart is its location – a magical spot where the sky meets the sea, offering the most breathtaking sunset views on the island. Dining here, with the sun dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple, was an experience unlike any other. It was not just a meal; it was a moment in time, a memory to be cherished forever.
In a world where dining often becomes just another part of our routine, this Italian pizza restaurant reminds us of the joy and beauty that food can bring into our lives. It’s a place where every meal is a celebration of flavors, friendship, and the breathtaking beauty of nature.
To the owner and the incredible staff, thank you for an unforgettable evening. Your restaurant is not just the best spot for sunset on the island; it’s a slice of Italy, a home away from home, and a testament to the love and dedication you bring to every dish you serve. We will be back, not just for the amazing food, but for the warmth, the sunsets, and the feeling of being part of something...
Read moreEdit: have to bring down the rating after what happened yesterday. We went twice in a row because of the food. Yesterday evening, a girl collapsed on her table after eating something she was allergic to. None of the staff had any idea what to do or showed any concern. The manager refused to call a doctor (or pretended the doctor didn’t answer his calls, but wouldn’t call another) and had to be shouted at by multiple other diners to finally take action. The manager clearly just wanted the girl out of the restaurant and out of his sights. He suggested to “stop the drama” (????) and wanted to ship her off on a horse cart but wouldn’t say where to. Only thanks to the intervention from multiple foreign guests did the girl who was passed out, throwing up and shaking uncontrollably finally get help from a doctor. When we left her at the doctors an hour later, she seemed to be making a recovery. I was shocked and appalled by the total lack of concern for the life of a guest. I don’t blame the staff, but the manager should know better.
Old review: I normally don’t visit places with European food in Asia; it’s pointless. The food will be mediocre at best, yet expensive. Made an exception here and it was truly the best pizza I’ve ever eaten outside of Europe. The fact that it’s on an island this small is remarkable. The pizza was still crazy expensive, but it was really really good. Service is friendly and efficient. On the other hand, charging extra for payment with card is against Visa and Mastercard rules (they will blacklist you if they hear about it), and it’s simply uncalled for in a restaurant...
Read moreA Little bad review, for attracting the attention of the owner.
This place had the best pizza and lasagna I ever had. I mean it! If I was coming to Gili air, no way I would not eat at least once there.
I met a guy whose one of his main motivations to come to air was Mama Pizza.
It is absolutely exceptional, and probably so difficult to keep at this level. But please do something!
I think it is since you changed manager, that the quality is getting very average. 2 months ago I had a pizza and it was surprisingly not as good as expected . The dough and the cooking was not perfect at all. Anyway, It can happen.
So 1 month ago I strongly advised friends to go . They said what they had was "ok". I have to say I felt a bit ashamed and really wondered if these guys had any idea of what we call good food.
I came back a week ago, and then I understood. My lasagna was definitely not like before. Before it was cooked and recooked until caramelised in the same dish in the oven, sooo caramelised but not dry... A real miracle. This time it has been thrown in a clean dish and just warmed up. The taste and texture was close to a can of food. Let us say like a good can of food.
I tried my friend's pizza, and the cooking was "okay", but the cheese was too old. Not like good old cheese, but like a cheese who stayed outside the fridge for a long time in a tropical country.
And as a confirmation a pretty intense diarrhea for the 2 days following.
No bad feelings, here staff can be soooo difficult to manage in terms of quality. Just please try to bring this place back...
