Absolutely loved our stay at Captain Coconuts. From the moment we walked in the vibe was great. All the staff are so friendly, genuine and welcoming. The hotel itself is very rustic but very homely and comfortable. We had the family villa with 3 beds and shared living space (the largest in the small resort) and it was perfect for my wife and two kids (a teenager and 9 year old). The rooms are comfortable, firm bed and mosquito nets. The rooms are clean and maintained, but still rustic and original with many reused materials (which we appreciate). We absolutely loved hanging by the pool and meeting new people (mainly backpackers staying in the 18 bedroom dormitory accomodation there). We were very lucky that all guests seemed very relaxed, calm and considerate of others living in a happy little community (which we loved!). Finally the vegetarian restaurant. We are here many times on our 4 night stay for breakfast lunch and dinner. The food is fresh and delicious and well priced. They make great coffees and have oat milk if you are dairy free like us. The breakfast was awesome (and included). Loved the vegetarian nasi goreng, the cucumber vegetable rolls with peanut dipping sauce, and our kids loved the granola bowls and smoothie bowls. All so fresh and delicious flavours. In summary, Captain Coconuts really made our stay in Gilli Air magic and we are already looking forward to coming back and staying at Captain Coconuts again. The only downfall was being woken up every morning at 4:30am by the muslim prayer calls, but we did get used to this and accept it’s all part of the experience. You will be woken up anywhere in Gilli Air this way, so it has nothing to do with the hotel. So if you love undisturbed sleep and if this will bug you then don’t go to Gilli Air. A big special thanks to Indra and Eddie who especially made our stay so warm and welcoming, and also to all the other staff who made Captain Coconuts feel like home! Everyone was awesome. We can’t wait...

Read moreThis is a lovely place to spend time in Gili Air. We had one of the 5 cabins situated around the pool. It’s good value for money, the cabin itself looks great from the outside, lots of character. Inside: firm bed, bedding could be a bit nicer, great mosquito net, ensuite bathroom with shower, water pressure is poor (we didn’t mind), small sink and toilet. The cabin has lots of gaps in the wood but again we didn’t mind. The pool is gorgeous and right outside the cabins. There’s a fair bit of shade from the surrounding palm trees when you’re in the pool making it very comfortable. There are some bamboo and seagrass covered sun umbrellas with sun beds around the pool and a cabana. Also little lamps hanging in the trees and bamboo sticks with little lampshades hanging off them. There’s a nice under cover open air restaurant area where breakfast in the morning was delicious. There’s a menu with yummy dishes to be had throughout the day. It’s situated in a small street, a short distance from the beach. They offer bicycles for 50000 a day which is the perfect way to get around. |The only downside for us is that there is a lot of smoking around the pool area. It can get quite busy around the pool due to the hostel which is also part of the accommodation. The hostel is so nice looking, all made from bamboo. It’s all open with mosquito nets over the beds. I’d highly recommend this place for those that are looking for well priced accommodation in a good location and with lots of character. Don’t expect 5 star but a great island vibe and boho...
