Incredibly disappointed.
We ordered the fried tempeh appetizer, which was advertised as being served with freshly made bumbu rujak. Instead, it came with Thai sweet chili sauce from a bottle. When we asked the waiter about it, he didn’t seem to know what we were talking about. After we pointed it out on the menu, he said he would check with the chef. He later returned with a small bowl of what appeared to be watered-down soy sauce with some chili slices. It had a slight spiciness but otherwise lacked any real flavor.
The beef rendang was also disappointing. It was almost entirely flavorless, lacking the depth, richness, and aromatic spices that define proper rendang. I've made better rendang at home, and I live in Central Europe.
We also ordered a beer, which was served tepid. I tried to order three different juices, but none were available — and no one came back to inform me or suggest alternatives.
The service was disorganized, and the staff seemed unfamiliar with the menu. Overall, it was a very underwhelming experience that did not match the high reviews this restaurant...
Read moreOur dining experiences at Shendy's Café were so outstanding that we couldn't resist going back for seconds, not once, but two nights in a row! This local gem serves up authentic Indonesian dishes that truly hit the mark.
We had the pleasure of savoring the Ayam Bawang, Taging Lapis, and Olah Olah during our visits. Each dish was a revelation of local flavors and culinary expertise. The Ayam Bawang was a delightful explosion of taste, the Taging Lapis was a texture-rich delight, and the Olah Olah was a flavor-packed experience. We left with our taste buds singing and our hearts full of culinary joy.
If you're in the area, I wholeheartedly recommend Shendy's Café. The dedication to local cuisine and the quality of their dishes are truly commendable. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere make it a must-visit spot for anyone looking to explore the authentic flavors...
Read moreAfter 3 Weeks on the Island, this is absolutely the best local food we have tried. The juiciest chicken in our 2 month in Indonesia. We have been eating Mie goreng, gado gado, glass noodle and prawn bowl, and Ayam bakar Sambal matah. The price is medium for local food. 45k for Mie goreng. Your can find cheaper local food but this was absolutely the best. The size of the dish good. Not too much. Not too little. This is a warung where I want to try something new every time, because I have a feeling no matter what they make it will be very good.
Thank you shendy’s 5 out of 5 on food, service and price!
And we learn som new Indonesian words every time we come...
