Lockdown Kitchen Gili Air — Restaurant in West Nusa Tenggara

Food itself was good, but not enough to make me want to return. There are plenty of other very good restaurants on Gili Air to visit.

We ordered a soup and a main dish. The main dish arrived after about 45 minutes—which we were prepared for, based on other reviews. It was served hot and freshly prepared, which was a plus. However, the soup only arrived after we had finished the main dish. At that point I wasn’t interested in soup anymore, so I offered it to two Indonesian guys sitting nearby (and still paid for it). In most restaurants, soup is served as a starter, but apparently not at Lockdown Kitchen. If you visit, be sure to clearly specify the order in which you want your food to be served.

Another issue: when reviewing the bill later (photos of screenshots done at the restaurant), we noticed that we had been charged twice for a small bottle of water, even though we ordered and received only one. It was difficult to spot the mistake at the restaurant since the bill was displayed across two screens on a device. Hopefully this was unintentional, but combined with the other issues, it didn’t leave a good impression.

Also worth mentioning: the menu currently shown on Google (a nicely designed black-orange-white version with green leaves, marked as “1 month old”) was not the same as the one we received. It is rather one that indicates being 4 month old in Sep 2025). The restaurant may want to keep an eye on this to avoid...

We went here twice and let me just preface this with the food was delicious, big portions and relatively well priced.

However the first time, we dined in (we were the only ones there the entire time) we had to wait almost 90 minutes for our food! The food was nice though so we put this down to a bad day or something.

We later on then ordered takeaway which again took almost 90 minutes and when it did arrive they were missing part of the order which they said they would go back and fetch.

Another HOUR went by when we decided to text them to ask what was happening and we were told they were out of stock of the item we ordered and apologised for not telling us.

I think because they are such a popular place their service and hospitality has slipped because they know people will keep on coming.

I would like to give this place 5 stars but it almost felt rude how unbothered they were with the waiting and lack of communication.

A little care and attentiveness is needed to truly make this place the place to be...

I would not recomend this Restaurant because of the way we were treated. We arrived around 20:30 and there were a table available, when i asked the person responsible called Adi, he Said that they were fully booked. I asked about the table and he Said that the people were at the back coming back. We stayed in front of the Restaurant looking for another option when another table got free and my husband went to ask again and the same Man Adi was quite cold and rude and Said he needs to clean First. At the end we asked for the Bill and my husband asked if he could pay by card and the same Adi was really rude and Said the machine was broken. I told him at the end that he treated us Very badly and he needed to treat better people.
