Bastani Restaurant — Restaurant in Isfahan

I was by accident there for dinner. The waitress managed to deceive me in the end. The moment I sat down, she came to me with a bowl of soup and a salad which I didn't order obviously. She didn't mention they were not free since it was a trap. I got very annoyed when I saw them on the bill and complaint immediately to the manager lady about it. The manager lady gave me a discount but it was definitely not something I appreciate. So people who want to go there for dinner need to be vigilant, especially tourists like me, since the waitress and waiter spoke very very limited english. On top of that I ordered plum stew & rice. The portion was so small that it didn't match with the high price they asked. I like Isfahan but how they try to mess up with tourists ruined my entire day. In total, it was a very disappointing experience. I won't recommend this...

Bastami Traditional Restaurant

The review in the Lonely Planet is true as far as I’m concerned: the place is magnificent, the traditional food we tried was delicious and the prices are as you would expect. The staff is friendly but quite unprofessional to West European standards. Unprofessional staff wasn’t that uncommon during our trip in Iran (July 2019).

Without asking, my wife and I were served some sort of soup and a salad. For mains we ordered “Beryani” and for dessert “khorest-e mast” (spelled differently), all traditional foods. It was delicious and in the right quantity. The fresh lemonade juice is lovely by the way. Together with some drinks (and of course the salad and soup), the bill was around 1.3 million Rials.

I don’t understand where the negative reviews from people writing in Farsi are coming from, I highly recommend...

First of all, we went there to experience traditional Isfahan food called Beyrani. I do not recommend trying this food at this place. We ordered kebab (jooje and barg) and there were so bad. Staffs are not friendly at all. Although the place has a really breathtaking architecture and design, tables are so dirty and they do not care. The price is not fair for the food. All in all, I do not recommend this place mostly for international people because they won’t like it. Isfahan is a beautiful and historical place and they have really delicious and traditional foods.
