(Update: I thank the owner for the apology offered. I really hope that you will improve your customer service skills and hire honest delivery drivers.)
Short version — If you ever encounter delivery problems, be aware that you will neither be receiving your food, nor your money back, nor an opportunity for a civilized conversation, even if it is to offer feedback for improvement. Don’t bother and forget your losses.
Longer version — I have ordered 3 or 4 times from Pizza Daddy over the past three years and it had always been a takeaway. But 2 nights ago, I placed an order through Just Eat, close to 1pm. I never received my order, despite waiting on my couch near the door, for over an hour. More importantly NO ONE KNOCKED ON MY DOOR - this is how I’ve ALWAYS got my deliveries from drivers and cyclists from other places and restaurants. My phone which was next to me on the couch hadn’t rung either, even though I wasn’t expecting a call but a knock on the door; I had been checking the phone every 10 min waiting for the status to change to the final stage of “delivery”, if it had rung (like the dishonest driver claimed and the manager who believed him), why would I not answer my phone for food I was patiently waiting for? . I can accept that orders can go wrong, drivers can make mistakes and I’m more than willing to let go of not receiving my food or the money back (€18.99 just for a pizza - expensive) if only the manager at Pizza Daddy was willing to hear some constructive feedback, but my goodness he has no clue about good communication or good manners! I really feel sorry for people who come from cultures where it is okay to be rude to people, to raise voices, to be demanding and impatient, to cut people off while talking, and to hang up! I had a genuine issue and they have a responsibility towards customers who are genuine in their complaints. He kept demanding to know my address as if the problem was my address, when all I wanted to share with him was to request the drivers to KNOCK ON THE DOOR ON ARRIVAL!! How difficult is that, especially when it isn’t even raining?
Phones aren’t always reliable for any number of reasons, so I don’t understand how lazy or unprofessional a driver must be to claim that he waited outside for a while and that he’d tried ringing me (my phone NEVER rang), WHY DIDN’T HE SIMPLY KNOCK ON THE DOOR, EVEN ONCE ??
JustEat isn’t going to offer me a refund and I will never use their website or services again. As regards to Pizza Daddy, such a shame to conduct a business this poorly. I will never deal with the place again nor will I recommend them. The manager lacks basic skills for effective communication and problem resolution, clearly client satisfaction isn’t important either. He couldn’t even engage with me politely long enough to know that all I called him for was to share my feedback that he instruct his drivers to KNOCK ON THE DOOR UPON ARRIVAL, especially if they have rang long enough for someone to pick up! Instead all he did was become defensive and rude, raise his voice demanding my address and when it wasn’t given to hang up !
People come from all sorts of cultures and backgrounds and continue to live here how they lived elsewhere, but that doesn’t excuse bad behavior. Hopefully he will observe the polite and friendly society he lives in and pick up some good etiquette and good manners from the good people here, I do wish him well and I forgive him for not returning the money that he owes me. But I will not do business with Just Eat or Pizza Daddy ever again.
(Edit: This has happened to several other reviewers too, eerily similar to what happened with me. I didn’t realise this place had really gone downhill. As service users, we have a responsibility too to avoid irresponsible businesses not just Pizza Daddy but the likes of Just Eat and Deliveroo. The attendant reported that they tried to deliver the pizza, but were unable to contact us by phone. We asked if they could try to deliver the pizza again and the answer was no. They didn't even try to touch the intercom or deliver in contact via the Deliveroo App. We asked for a refund and they said they wouldn't refund. I called Deliveroo to see if they could help me. After 30 minutes on the phone, the answer was that they couldn't help us and that to get a refund I should speak to the pizzeria. I tried again to talk to the pizzeria staff, but without success, they did not want to deliver the pizza or at least return the money. We tried to talk to Deliveroo again, but they said they couldn't do anything for us. I am outraged by this situation, because if one night the delivery guy simply decided not to deliver our pizza, and simply eat it, he might as well do it, because Deliveroo doesn't solve anything, they didn't even want to return our money. The service was absolutely appalling he was shouting and raising his voice as I didn’t list it in the notes, but there was no description of veg being in it.
