I can't believe I've never been here before. Right in the city centre The Good Day Deli is more than a restaurant, it is such a pleasant experience, a place committed to sustainable and healthy food, and a love for the nature. They had me at hello.
The restaurant is situated within the beautiful gardens of Nano Nagle Place. To get there you have to come to the main entrance of Nano Nagle Place on Douglas Street and make your way to the garden where the restaurant is located. Such a warm, green, and beautiful way to welcome people.
When it comes to the restaurant, the atmosphere speaks for itselft: great views, in armory with the nature, and such lovely staff. They welcome you with open arms, they are super nice and polite, and they give you the time and space you need to make your choice. I have to say I was very impressed and I appreciate the way they treated us.
Regarding to the menu, it offers a variety of choices for all tastes, from pancakes to huevos rancheros, and vegan options as well. Quite unique and different to other restaurants in town, it would surprise me if you are not.
I chose to have the Summer Buddha Bowl, which I asked to be made vegan, and oh my! The taste was a fantasy! From the fruity cus cus, the beetroot hummus, the spicy crunchy chickpeas... to my discovery of the day, the vegan lemon cashew cheese. What a mix of flavours! That cheese was unreal... and I can't wait to version it at home. I have no words... Beautiful dish.
My husband went for the homemade lentil burger with goat cheese (it can also be made with vegan cheese), sweet beet relish, caramelised onion, leaves and served with hand cut fries. The bun looked very yummy too, and I will probably try it next time.
Their dessert menu is also lovely too. I went for the Ginger carrot cake, and it was delicious. My husband tried the sticky toffee pudding and again he was very impressed.
In a nutshell, we both were delighted with our choices and next time we would definitely like to try their berry pancakes and vegan trio of dips, among other dishes. They also have good wine and coffee menus, and organic teas and cold drinks such a kombucha.
This restaurant is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
In a sunny day, I would strongly recommend to book a table outside and enjoy the food in the garden, where you can enjoy the views and great atmosphere of this place. If you have time, have a look around the garden and other buildings, they have a gift shop and...

This restaurant is such a charming place! The first thing you'll notice is its cozy and intimate ambiance. It's a small yet magnificent spot, so booking in advance is essential.
To start, I ordered a cappuccino (€4.60). It was rich and creamy, making it the perfect way to kick off the day! I ordered the KIA Orana Apple Bruschetta (€16.95): Whipped Ardsallagh Goat Cheese with Caramelized Mealgulla Apples, Toasted Almonds, Fresh Parsley Pesto, and Leafy Greens on Sourdough. The combination of flavors was delightful, with the creamy goat cheese and sweet apples perfectly complementing each other.
Based on my friend's recommendation and my hunger, I also ordered an additional dish: the Smoked Trout & Asparagus (€21). This dish featured Goatsbridge Smoked Trout, Lisheen Greens Grilled Asparagus with Buttered Chard, Topped with Two Organic Poached Eggs, House Hollandaise, and Dukkah on Sourdough Toast. It was absolutely delicious! The eggs with the hollandaise sauce were amazing, and the asparagus was crispy and fresh. Plus, the edible flowers added a lovely touch.
At the end of our meal, when paying the bill, the waiter forgot to add the smoked trout & asparagus dish. I was honest and pointed out the mistake. Given the exceptional service, the attentiveness of the staff, and the high quality of the food, I felt it was only right to ensure everything was accounted for.
I highly recommend booking a table at this incredible restaurant/cafe to enjoy their delicious food and...
Read moreI have passed Douglas street so many times and had no idea this place was hidden there. The food is amazing, just my type of food and locally sourced. Lentil burger much bigger than I expected and very tasty :) same with the pancakes and sourdough egg :) the cakes were also very good. I am always scared of desserts as they tend to be too sweet but not in Good Day Deli. Loved it. Coffee full of taste and rich, beautifully served. Only issue I had was the fork that I received with my desert. It was the same fork as for the main meal - very heavy and bulky which made it a struggle to eat dessert, especially for my children. For this price range I would expect to get my dessert with a dessert spoon or fork. Also - the table I booked was supposed to be for 3. From the moment we were seated until the moment we were served, nobody noticed we only had 2 sets of cutlery. Had to ask for it myself eventually after we received the food and waitress left. The food is presented amazingly with great attention to details but that attention doesn't seem to be the same at the table. The water glasses that were set already were also dirty. Seems they were there for days and just kept on being on the table as no guests were using them. To be fair we received new clean glasses with the drinks we ordered so not a big deal but again it's a big contrast to the attention to detail...
