Brunch at Velo = Waste of Time and Money Cafe Velo was a place my friends and I had been planing to visit for a while. From the outside it looks very neat and the inside does not disappoint. Its a clean, bright and cozy bicycle themed cafe. Even though it was full we were lucky to find a table when we arrived. The staff was polite. These are the only good things i have to say about it. We waited half an hour for our food. There were costumers who arrived way after us who got served first. Some also had a cooked brunch. The food wasn't worth it. Especially the one i requested for my child. That one was simply terrible. For starters, when my child's plate arrived, the first thing i noticed was the hair on the ketchup that came with her fries. I informed the waitress about it and asked for mayo instead. She loves hamburgers and since they didn't have that option in the kids menu, i asked for the Patty Melt. She complained it didn't taste nice and that it was hard. I had forgotten to ask to remove the caramelized onions from it so i started to remove it to the side thinking that that was the reason why she was complaining until i reached the burger or what was left of it. The burger was burnt and instead of making a new one, they simply and crudely cut the top of it ( pieces of it were missing by the way) and dropped the onions and cheese on the top. Seeing as it was, i flipped it over. It wasn't that better. The burger was heavily cooked (to not say burnt) on the other side too. I tried a piece of it. No seasoning whatsoever and i couldn't even chew it properly due to being so dried-out and tough. Now imagine a kid trying to eat that. I ended up giving her my fried egg, sausage and part of the rashers from my Full Velo brunch and that was it. When we went to pay for it, they said they were sorry for the delay and asked if we liked the food. I replied that we didn't and nothing else was said nor asked. It is important to mention that after they brought us our food, none of the staff came to ask us how was it or if we needed something else. Not even when we had long finished eating. Only when we got up and went to pay, someone came to us to receive the payments while another one cleaned our table. What i regret the most is not having taken a photo of her plate. It was so bad that even i couldn't believe how they could serve such a thing to anyone. So, instead. I'll upload a photo of my Full Velo Brunch. An advice: If you want to try good Irish food, go to the Spitjack or the Farmgate Cafe inside the English Market. For an Irish breakfast you can also try Tony's Bistro.

Restaurant sympathique. J ai pris le Full Vélo B'Fast. C'était bien copieux. Un peu déçu des oeufs aux plats. Ils étaient trop cuits. A peine terminé mon plat, le serveur est venu m'apporter l'addition. Je trouve ça limite.

The staff were very nice, and most of the breakfast was nice. The sausage, bacon x2 and mountain of toast was great. The black pudding was nice, a bit overcooked. The pot of tea was bigger than one could hope to drink!( a positive!) However, the scrambled egg was more of an omelette that flopped. Very solid and a bit congealed. The tomato on the menu was described as "oven roasted", but was in fact just a warm raw tomato. And for €12.50, it just seemed a bit much. From looking around at other diners, the scrambled egg is the norm. My husband's coffee was also unpleasant, with a bitter burnt taste. At no point was I asked if we were satisfied with the meal, otherwise I would have mentioned it. Altogether, it was fine. The people there seem lovely, it's a nice space and the toast is good.

Very poor service for the Darkness into Light event. A very young boy was helping as a waiter and he poured over the cappuccino (also on my t-shirt) and did not apology. I had to ask for another one. The menu said that at 6.45 am we could order the regular brunch, but at 7 am the waitress told us that it takes half an hour for the regular menu. We had already waited half an hour for ordering, so we decided to go for the light breakfast of the day. However, the light breakfast (a bun with bacon and egg, no more than this) eventually took more than half an hour to arrive, whilst other customers were served with regular breakfast... A lot of confusion with orders - a friend of mine is vegetarian and she asked the bun without bacon, and they brought one with it. Also, she asked for a hot chocolate, and they arrived with an orange juice. In addition, they gave us different bread than other customers who had the bun bread, and they did not even ask if it was OK for us. I understand that it was a special event, but you should have prepared better...

To answer the owner:

I was talking about bread and not brioches/ muffins. No wonder you mixed up all of our orders.

Nothing personal against the boy, but it was clear that he was not confident in the role.

Do you really think that you also needed to argue with me after all the delay you had this morning?

Your comment just supports my review. Sometimes silence is...

I visited with a friend a week back and we took our smallies with us. The staff seem confused( happens to everyone i get it) we ordered 2 coffees (both came seperate) ice cream and toasties (one for child) i think that child meal should look somehow good and on smaller plate also my friend asked for brown toastie and got white one. Anyway all of our orders came separately means coffee got cold or finished before meal arrived. The staff though I dunno why but they kept asking if we are ready to pay like we are going to run away without paying. We both paid separately, and when I paid mine the guy behind till was asking me if my other friend will pay! Whyy? Come on guys if you keep doing this customers won’t return. I do understand your location is next to social welfare and some weirdos might come by but please improve. Tired moms doesn’t look their best you know. Anyway there was only 1 lady that bring ice cream to my Autistic child and only her i give 10/10. Most friendly there. Thank you lady ❤️ as I had coffee only i can say coffee...
