The Plaza Restaurant — Restaurant in Cork

Food is ok. Went today and the waitress brought a small board with today’s special offers. It liters said “soup + sandwich or wrap “ so I said I’ll take that and the waitress asked sandwich or wrap so I got the wrap. I didn’t even choose it from the menu I asked for chicken and she said would you like cheese, onion and tomato and I said ok. When I went to pay I found that I’m being charged for the soup and wrap separately!!! When I pointed at the board that was displayed right there and said I asked for that offer the owner said they are separate on the menu and that the offer is only for soup and sandwich!!!!! I wonder what would have happened if I did order the soup and sandwich would the offer be valid only for the wrap?!!!! Anyway definitely the last time for me there. I don’t mind spending money to enjoy my food but I really mind...

I grew up in Ballincollig but only recently discovered the The Plaza. I am glad I did because the food and staff are amazing.

I have dined at the Plaza for breakfast and lunch. They have a fine selection of hot breakfasts (full Irish, scrambled eggs) and fresh dishes like scones. There is a huge selection of lunches: sandwiches, burgers, lasagne, and more.

The staff at The Plaza are very kind and great for chatting with new and regular customers.

I would think of the Plaza as more of a bistro or a cafe that serves three-course meals. It is not a fancy restaurant or a gastropub, the atmosphere is different. I like this fact but it is up to each person whether they do.

An absolutely wonderful experience at the Plaza. As always the food was delicious, we had the full fry and the pancakes but what sets the plaza apart from anywhere else we’ve eaten in Ballincollig is the service. From the minute we approached the door, Mary had two menus in hand and the door held open for our pram. She sat us in a spacious area and put the heater on for our new born and throughout the whole meal, Mary checked in to see were we doing ok and was so kind. We are first time parents with a 4 week old and to get that headspace and genuine care with a newborn meant the world to us. This will be our daughter’s first of many many visits to the Plaza!
