I don’t know why but I haven’t been here again for years but a special birthday came along and I thought where do I like? Bacco Ristorante in Ballincollig came to mind & I wasn’t disappointed. I started by ordering the Bruschetta Mozzarella and while we waited they brought us a little appetiser (freebie) as it happened we both had the same starter. I then chose the Bistecca Alla Griglia well done which came beautifully presented with a dish or perfectly prepared vegetables I was driving so had an alcohol free beer. We also had the Cannelloni Ricotta E Spinaci which I’m told too was delicious and we both went for the Panna Cotta Alla Frutta (Italian Cheesecake topped with fruit which again was too nicely presented to eat but needs must so I wolfed it down 😊 we weren’t rushed out the door and enjoyed a nice cappuccino and chat before heading away. Service was first class no one taking plates away before catching your eye to see you had finished your course. All this came to just €86 great value and nothing to complain about. If you are visiting Cork and want to enjoy a great meal in a comfortable environment you won’t do much better than heading out to Bacco Ristorante Italiano in...
Read moreI visited Bacco Ristorante with a member of my family recently for dinner.
We were glad to come out of a wet night and into the warm eating area of the restaurant. A member of staff immediately provided us with a table and and left us to choose our meals from the menu.
There was plenty to choose from, more than your typical Italian restaurant. For starters we had the Minestrone (Italian-style soup) and Salmone Affumicato (smoked salmon). Both were amazing and the Minestrone was served with bread.
For main course we had the Pollo Cacciatora (chicken breast and vegetables) and Calzone Alla Bacco pizza. The chicken dish was cooked well and served with plenty of roast vegetables. The calzone was delicious and the base smelled and tasted like proper fresh-baked bread.
For desert we ordered the Tiramisu. I enjoyed it because I love chocolate flavoured deserts but it was lacking the coffee flavour that Tiramisu is known for.
It was a relaxing atmosphere but I would hope more diners visit this place because the quietness on the day we visited made the place seem lonely.
I would highly recommend Bacci Ristorante to anyone looking for a good Italian restaurant in Ballincollig...
Read moreDefinitely recommend!! Second time coming back - first time had a big, delicious gluten-free, lactose-free pizza (yes, they do gluten-free pizza and pasta too!) with salad - the dressing was quite flavourful.
This time, I had what can only be described as food for the soul - black sole, to be precise - with heavenly roast spuds and lovely veg. The fish was so tasty, it didn't need any extra salt or pepper, and came with a sauce on the side (just mention if you've allergies and they'll take care of you). They can filet the fish or, if you prefer, leave it with the bones (it's not a bony fish at all, it just has them on the inside, not running through the sides).
I just had the sole, but my dining mates (party of 6) shared several starters and desserts between themselves, and had different mains. Everything looked and, according to them, was delicious - for most, it was their first time here and they were already talking of coming back here before the mains ended.
I highly recommend this place - apart from the delicious food, the owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming. There's such a...
