The Oak Room at Adare Manor — Restaurant in County Limerick

We had a truly amazing evening at the Oak Room, enjoying the 6-course tasting menu for our 20th anniversary. The experience is seamless, from our initial greeting, to our servers for the evening to the chefs explaining their art. We had driven there so went for the non-alcoholic pairings, which were each careful thought-out, explained to perfection and utterly delicious with each course. Adare Manor is a beautiful place and the staff are very nice but the food was not great and there was no music or atmosphere and it’s very stuffy in both senses of the word, general lack of fresh air is a big problem in most of the buildings it seems. Not seeing the central vision in terms of service excellence and delighting the customers, there’s just a lack of joy, everyone is too busy trying to be very posh and polite, and look good. Service was inconsistent and food was variable. Our table for two was reserved for 8pm and we arrived 5 minutes early, but we were not served any food until 8.40 all the while staff tried to avoid eye contact. Our wine did not arrive until 10 minutes later. We ordered the Signature Menu.
