Cox's Restaurant & Bars — Restaurant in County Mayo

I did give this restaurant 2 stars but I remembered after we were seated with our young child the female server brought us a "baby bowl" before we even had a chance to see the menu. I love this! In a lot of places the baby bowl comes out with the parents order meaning someones food has to go cold to feed the child. In that respect Coxs are on the ball!

However, my "golden chicken wings" were actually battered which isn't mentioned on the menu. The batter also soaked up quite a bit of fat from the fryer leaving the wings to taste greasy and more like a wet sandwich than chicken. I got a caesar salad for my main but the lettuce seemed quite wilted and uneventful. The sauce was tasty, unsure if homemade or store bought. But the chicken was tough and spent just a fraction too long on the grill...

Was here 9 months ago and it was fab, found it very disappointing this time, was a Saturday evening in Feb, wasn't overly busy but staff although were lovely they had to be kept asking for forgotten items, drinks, extra sides that were ordered, dessert items etc. Food wise starter was lovely but main course was practically inedible, got a beef stir fry, the beef was chopped up tiny and barely any in it and it was literally poisoned with soy sauce, was a big pool of it in the bottom of the dish and was so salty it couldn't be eaten. 12/08/23 my partner myself & my daughter went in today @16.10 food still don't @16.55. nearly an hour waiting for food and to top it off i am currently expecting another baby and i was left a full hour for a chicken stir fry i am absolutely disgusted and won't be letting this one go. The staff knew we was waiting extremely long and yet i had to go up and ask . When the chef was rang @40 mins he said it be another 10 minutes & may i add the place was very very quiet and i counted 3 tables with 2-3 people each table that was all that was in.
