While driving through Mullingar, my partner and I decided to stop for a bite to eat and came upon Oscars. From the moment we stepped in, we were swept away by an impeccable dining experience that deserves nothing less than five stars! The service was top-notch, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who made the evening truly special. The highlight of my meal was the Steamed Black Mussels with Buttered Samphire, Fresh Chilli, and Spring Onions — easily the best I’ve ever eaten. The flavors were vibrant and perfectly balanced, creating a memorable start to the meal.

The culinary excellence didn't stop there; the Slow Braised Featherblade of Beef was a masterpiece. Served with Glazed Pearl Onions, Baby Vegetables, Green Mash, and Thyme Jus, the beef was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, paired exquisitely with the freshness of the vegetables and the richness of the jus. Every bite was a delight and showcased the chef's expertise and attention to quality.

Eleven of us ate last night at Oscars for a birthday celebration. Nice venue excellent food and pleasant floor staff. Unfortunately the Owner/Manager let his restaurant down badly. A mistake was made on delivery of one of the dishes and the waitress was dealing with it efficiently but the owner/manager confronted our diner and accused him of ordering the wrong dish in an aggressive tone! The bill arrived and one of our diners was charged for one main and one starter instead of two starters .The owner/manager arrived and said “she got a main I counted sixteen prawns on the plate! I counted them myself” The final part of our celebration was to ask the staff to bring cupcakes purchased by us to the table and present them to the birthday celebrant. This was done nicely by the staff but the manager applied a 33 Euro cake service charge without informing anyone this would apply in the first place I regret to say the Owner/Manager was rude and abrupt and not interested in resolving small issues in a polite and professional manner. We left having spent over €500 wondering how this Owner/Manager had behaved...

great food, great atmosphere, great service, attentive staff. easily one of my top 10 restaurants that i’ve been to in ireland in the 6 years that i’ve lived here. they accommodated our party of 10 easily (including a disabled individual and a toddler), had delicious food, and the best atmosphere. everyone in our party absolutely loved it. our only complaint would have been the noise level (VERY loud) but that really was not at the fault of any of the staff members. we cannot wait to return as soon as possible!
