Rob's Ranch House — Restaurant in County Westmeath

Heard this place was worth a visit, tried it today.Very disappointed to be honest.Was looking forward to a nice burger.There was a party of Spanish students getting ready to leave and we got to sit down,we placed our order.About 40 minutes later the waitress said there was a problem with a burger and we said ok,about 10 minutes later our food arrived.I couldn't believe what I saw.The chef actually sent out chips that were way over cooked and even the onion rings were the same and very greasy.I'd ordered a half portion of ribs, seriously over cooked and very little sauce on them.The burgers we got were just average.We told the waitress about the chips and wanted to know if we wanted replacement chip,we said no as we didn't want to wait 40 minutes more for chips.We went to pay, when asked were happy we said about the chips and ribs.The owner or manager came over and looked at our food we left behind and agreed it was over cooked.He said there was no reason for it as the place wasn't busy.We said we wouldn't be back and he said we didn't ask you to come back.We weren't looking for anything and he didn't charge us for the ribs.One thing is for sure, I'll never go back and I'd never recommend it either.Should have left...

2nd visit. I wonder if they have better chef on weekend. I visited midweek this time and was very disappointed. BBQ chicken wings - sauce was not good. Chicken Fajita tower - sauce was not very nice very tomato based and low on flavour, only a small number of tortillas. Carbonara was ok. Corn on the cob was warm on the outside and freezing in the middle, like fridge cold. Asked for a replacement that never came.

There was also a group of about 5 seated behind us, each with a phone playing videos at full volume, no regard for others around them, and no hint of them being asked to turn it down.

Pros: Great location in middle of town, beside a cool entertainment centre. The theme of restaurant is cute. The music matches nicely. Interesting selection on menu. Genuinely enjoyed food and few months back on a weekend visit. Not blown away but it was good, and I was happy to visit again, but this time was just not nice.

NB this is a Pepsi restaurant, not coke, for anyone who has a preference either way!

Were do i start, after giving a food review with work a few years ago the place has changed so much, arrived at 3.30 on a thursday, we were the only customers there, staff wearing fleece and long winter coat, it was freezing in there, both girls were lovely, warm and inviting, taken to a table to the left of the door way infront of the window, Cobwebs around the windows, dead spiders and a fly on the over head glass lampshade thats full of dust, ordered the Taco Burger, Burger was dried out and cold in the middle, there was no flavour and no taste, The Wings, cooked on the outside and still a slight pink on the bone, Loaded Fries, Chips were still Frozen and the Kids Pasta, Precooked penne pasta that was nuked in the microwave with some Passata, leave the lettuce and slice of tomato off the plates, its not a side salad and not a garnish, overall a huge huge let down, for such a lovely place a few years back its a massive let down now, Saving grace for the 2 stars was the staff, i couldnt tell you their names as no name tags and never got a reciept to...
