For years I dip in and put of the hilton and at best I could say average but some days it's diabolical for example last Sunday mothers day the service was awful and the food was bland, prepared and served without love and even the deserrs were awful, they can't even get a cheese cake right. I'm not joking when I say in over 10 plus years as a frequent visitor for last minute food or occasions because its local and we know we will always get a table. The place has had a few looks over the years and several menus but really they are just a tidy up or a sight change to the previous menu it's always safe which is fine and it's not overpriced but I'd rather pay more and get better food. If anyone sees this from TIfco what the hell was going on with the so called buttermilk chicken burgers on Sun 19th match ? They weren't coated nor were the just pan-fried they seen to have maybe been dipped in something very very lightly man they were terrible and even the chips were bad and don't get me started on the at best luke warm NO TASTE Leak and potato soup and the flavourless soda bread plus about 30 staff on and not once were we asked was everything OK even when they took away half empty plates. It's hit and miss, if your stuck try it but if you have options but the Hilton Kilmainham to the bottom of your list also mothers day NO effort made to have any kind of entertainment not even backround music was on the atmosphere was non existent, years ago they used to do set mothers day menus and give the mother a gift like a glass of prosecco or something but nope nothing. If it wasn't part of a hotel it wouls never survive as stand alone bistro...
Read moreWe are staying in the Hilton so we thought we’d try the restaurant out. We get there and it looks great staff were friendly, we ordered some food and drinks but however after we’d ordered it took nearly an hour to get our food which was ridiculous! I got steak medium well and it was medium well and very good however they did not tel me the accompanying vegetables were asparagus which I don’t eat but I wasn’t complaining as I’d plenty of mash and my friend had extra veg she shared. My friend got the chicken supreme and really enjoyed the chicken, the potato gratin wasn’t great and wasn’t garlicky enough, and the veg she revived was half raw they were very al-dente. After that we decided to get some desserts are we’re going to split a cheesecake, the waiter came and took our plates but never came back at all we waited another half hour and no one came back to the table so we decided to just leave as it wasn’t worth it anymore. We went to pay and it was fine a bit pricey for not great service and not amazing food. Then the waiter that just disappeared finally came back to clear the table as if he just waited for us to leave, I mean how rude. Will not recommend to anyone and will not come again as it just isn’t worth the...
Read moreWe decided to give this place a try during our stay because of its convenience and after reading some decent reviews. Honestly, we really wish we didn’t have to write this, but our experience was far from great. The staff was friendly, though a bit young and inexperienced. With more confidence and experience, they could become more present and organized. At times, they seemed a bit unsure, and there was a lack of follow-up on our requests. As soon we got our dishes, they wrapped their service. We ordered a few burgers & sandwiches- which took about 40m to come and were not that great- but the real standout was my partner's club sandwich. It looked (and tasted) like they had run out of ingredients and decided to throw together whatever leftovers they had. It was so dry (I wish I could add the pictures) that it could make the Sahara desert look like a tropical island.
I know food photos on social media are often designed to make dishes look appealing, but we just hope these pictures can offer a bit of a reality check to future customers. Honestly, I can’t believe this is being served connected to the Hilton name. It’s a bit shocking how something like this could be associated with a...
